The NFA is offering anglers the once in a lifetime opportunity to go fishing with record breaking world class angler, Alan Scotthorne and river superstar Dave Harrell. With almost £1000 raised through the NFA’s first two ‘Go Fishing with a Star’ auctions and six anglers still remaining including Tommy Pickering, Dave Harrell and Alan Scotthorne, the scheme looks set to be a huge success.
With the first auction completed, there are only a few days remaining of our second auction, which includes angling legend Bob Nudd and England Internationals Richard O’ Connor and Darren Cox. Anglers have already shown their enthusiasm and generosity to help take our England team for Anglers with Disabilities and England Veterans team to the World Championships this summer, and we hope the remaining auctions will be equally well received.
If you haven’t managed to secure a day fishing with one of the six stars already auctions, don’t panic as there are still six anglers remaining. The penultimate set of auctions will kick off on 15th May and finish on 22nd May where anglers will have a chance to fish with England Ladies team manager, Tommy Pickering at either Lindholme or Hayfield Lakes. There will also be the chance to fish with recently named England internationals Des Shipp at Viaduct and Steve Gardener at Willinghurst Fishery.
The finale of ‘Go Fishing with a Star’ will see five time record breaking superstar Alan Scotthorne on Lindholme Lakes or Hayfield Lakes up for grabs. River specialist Dave Harrell will be offering the chance to go fishing on the River Wye and Denis White will be giving anglers the opportunity to go fishing on the Trent. All these stars will be available to the highest bidder through our online auction on eBay from the 22nd May to 28th May.

The angling session will be for two anglers, who will wherever possible receive complimentary breakfast upon their arrival and a day ticket for their day’s fishing. To be in with a chance of winning your fishing session with any of these stars, anglers will need to make a bid through eBay allowing you to track bids from other anglers and make sure that you are the number one bid when the auction ends.
‘Go Fishing with a Star’ is the creation of Dick Clegg OBE, NFA International Events Director to raise funds for the England team for Anglers with Disabilities who will be fishing in Germany and the inaugural Veterans team who will be fishing in Portugal this July.
Successful anglers will need to bring their own equipment, but will again where possible have their bait provided for them. The NFA guarantees that all funds raised from the bidding process will go towards supporting your England teams at the World Championships.
