The first Cornerstone AC Open match since last summer on the Grand Union Canal at Small Heath was fished in the best weather of the year, and although a combination of bright sunshine and clear water rarely make for great fishing, there were plenty of bites to be had for the 26 competitors.

Winner on the day with an excellent 12-11-13 was Andy Curless, who drew peg 26 where he caught roach on squatt with a few hemp fish. The next four anglers all weighed in over 8lb and you needed over 6lb to make the top 11
