The fifth qualifier of the series of the Angling Trust and British Waterways Stillwater Championships provided the best sport so far this year with some good fishing on a warm, but overcast day at Blythe Waters, Knowle, Solihull on Saturday 11th August 2012.
The winner on the day was Sean Huggins (Leicester) who coincidentally won the same round last year. Sean had a good net of carp up to 6 kg. on peg 26 on Willow Pool . Initially he caught fishing shallow in the long pole on a banded pellet but later caught a better stamp of fish in the margins. His final weight was 74.600kg giving him a very convincing win.
In second place was Geoff Ringer (Ringer baits) fishing peg 35 on Bridge pool. Geoff had a good carp within seconds of the starting whistle and caught steadily all day again fishing shallow on banded pellet for a weight of 42.900kg.
Third place went to Lee Davis (Hall Green) who made a last minute decision to fish this match. Lee was drawn on peg 15 on Willow Pool and caught some of his fish on luncheon meat on the long pole with the bulk of his fish coming later on paste. He weighed a total of 42. 600 kg.
Qualifiers for the final were:
Section A Peg 11 Bridge Pool Andrew Nicholls (Tamworth) 36.550kg
Section B Peg 18 Bridge Pool Alan Walton (Coventry) 41.980kg
