The River Severn at Bewdley hosted the seventeenth round of RiverFest qualification this Saturday. Conditions on the morning were bright and clear, which weren’t ideal and those with some cover had a distinct advantage.
Facebook blogger, Villa fan and one time MatchBox supremo Jim Burton was on such man on peg 49 in B zone, with a nice far bank tree and a slack. Jim fished a large blockend feeder with pellets for eight barbel and three chub, storming the match and zone with 55lb 4oz!
Not far away from Jim but in A zone, Andrew Paddock employed similar tactics of block end feeder and pellets. This saw him net good-sized chub and barbel for 19lb 14oz.
C zone winner was Chris Hallows from peg 176 in the shallows with 22lb 7oz. Chris has fished a stick float and waggler taking small chub, dace and roach on maggots and caster.
