The 2011 UK Champs came to a conclusion at Barston Lakes, with Jason Le Bosquet defending the four point lead he held coming into the final round thanks to a second in section.

The Solihull venue wasn’t on its finest form with a cold wind affecting catch rates, but there was still a good winning weight posted by last year’s champion – Birmingham’s Grant Albutt. Grant found himself in a fish for fish battle with Paul Holland – both of them fishing feeder to the fountain. But Grant’s boilie approach overcame Paul’s groundbait and maggot attack thanks to three big carp in the final 30 minutes that helped him to a 49kg winning total. The series was backed by Preston Innovations and highlights will be screened on Sky Sports in the coming weeks.
