Angling Trust & Canal & River Trust Canal Pairs Qualifier – Leeds & Liverpool Canal
The Angling Trust and Canal & River Trust “Canal Pairs” qualifier on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal took place on Sunday 27th September 2015 with 43 pairs competing.
The match was fished in glorious sunshine all day, great for walking the bank, but not for the anglers taking part!
“A” section was on Gorst Lane and “B” section on Heaton’s Bridge.
The individual match was won on Peg A1 (on the cottages) by Winter League regular Adam Jagger.
Adam concentrated on an 11.5 metre line with bread punch, finding an early bream of about 1lb 12oz, then backing this up with small roach on the same line plus a few perch from the near side bank.
With time running out and only 30 minutes to go, Adam caught another 1lb 8oz skimmer and on his last put in he caught another skimmer of approximately 2lb.
That fish made the difference, with David Trafford coming second from B42 behind the caravans weighing in 6lb 3oz 6dr consisting of two small skimmers and a lot of small fish caught on punch and squat.
