The prize for winning angling’s most prestigious match – the Fish ‘O’ Mania 2011 final – has been raised £5,000 to £30,000.

It’s thought the move by organisers Matchroom is in response to a new ‘Match This’ event being launched by Maver UK boss Phil Briscoe that could see £50,000 paid out to the winner if it sells out. Another change to the event will see one ‘super qualifier’, although the venues for the 2011 event have yet to be released. The final will once again be televised by Sky Sports.
