Horrible conditions greeted the 119 anglers in this latest Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifying round held at Barford Lakes, Norfolk on Saturday 16th April 2016. It was freezing cold, pouring with rain and breezy. It stayed like that until the last hour, making for a very patchy match.
Former Champion Nathan Watson from Louth drew favoured peg 13 on Barford Pleasure Lake where he fished waggler tactics with pellet bait to net a succession of carp to 13lb for his winning 114lb 13oz total.
Runner-up was Leicester Forest angler Sam Collett who drew peg 6 on Barford Top Lake where he fished pellet on the deck and paste in the margins for carp to 10lb in his 84lb 13oz bag. Colton Lake peg 30 produced third place for SPRO angler Perry Stone who fished meat on the pole to take carp to 8lbs in his 81lb 15oz haul.
The next three places fell to anglers fishing Willow Lake, whilst the fancied Match Lake didn’t figure in the top 6.
Angling Trust thanks go to Sarah and the staff at Barford for a well run event in terrible conditions.
The next Fish ‘ O’ Mania qualifier is at Partridge Lakes on Wednesday 20th April 2016.
