Craig Smithson is submitting a new British Record claim for the BRFC after landing this 4lb 11oz fish at Milton Abbas Fishery in Dorset. If accepted at that weight, it will be the existing record by just an ounce.

The fish was one of only two landed in a 48 hour session fishing 15mm boilies tight to a reed bed – the other fish being a tench – and came at 9.30am on his final morning at the water.

The water stocked 1500 crucians 20 years ago. There are thought to be less than 30 left.
