WORK is well underway on a new water at Blake Hall Fisheries in Cheadle in Staffs, with a planned opening for May 2006.

The 40-peg lake is to be called Capricious (unpredictable), but fishery boss John Heath is looking to create a venue that actually offers consistent sport year round.

“It’s stocked with small carp to 1lb, barbel, tench, chub and silver fish with a view to creating a water for both club match and pleasure anglers that fishes well in both winter and summer,” he told Midland Angler.

“The lake’s name is my son’s idea, but we are hoping it won’t be capricious at all. It’s more sheltered than Peninsula, with depths down to about two metres, and it should fish well when the temperature drops. We are also looking to add some F1s to this end, and will be creating islands that will be within long pole range.”

The new water takes the number of pegs at the fishery to 170. For more information call on 01538 753908.
