On Tuesday 14th June, angling coaches, club officials, Environment Agency and Council Sports managers launched an Angling Action Group for Northamptonshire at a meeting organised by the Angling Development Board’s Regional Officer James Roche and its national chairman David Moore.
This initial meeting saw the group exchange ideas for helping angling clubs grow their membership and attract young people into the sport through training more coaches and taking part in events such as National Fishing Month which starts on the 16th July. A number of local funding pots were also highlighted to enable local clubs and potential coaches to bid into and support their projects.
James said “I was really pleased with the enthusiastic response from everyone and there is a lot we can do to support every club’s work in the County. We are meeting again on Tuesday 2nd August and anyone from clubs, coaches, fisheries and the tackle trade is welcome to attend or contact me on James.roche@anglingdevelopmentboard.org.uk or telephone 07791 786251 for more information on the group”.
