PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
REPORT
MOLANDS Molands is in excellent form at the moment with good nets of carp, bream, tench and roach coming from all areas. Pleasure anglers have reported nets of bream and skimmers to over 50lb with the pole fished expander pellet over ground bait accounting for the better catches. Carp to double figures and tench to 6lb are coming to the method feeder with pellet or meat on the hook. The best pegs have been 2 – 14, 31, 43 – 48 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS Gearys is improving all the time with fish being caught all around the pool with mainly skimmers and roach making up the catches with the odd carp and tench also showing. Worm, caster and maggot proved to be the best baits last week with the pole at 10 metres working best for catches to over 30lb. Best bet for carp is a long chuck to the stumps with a method feeder or straight lead and pellet and fish to 10lb responded last week. Best pegs are 16, 18, 27 – 31 and 36 – 40.
LITTLE GEARYS Fishing well for mixed nets of carp, F1’s, tench and skimmers. Feeder to the island is producing the bigger carp catches with bags to over 35lb and pole fished expander pellet is going well for mixed nets with anglers busy all day. The far side pegs from 7 – 19 have all fishing well.
SIBLINGS In good form with silver fish feeding well for nets of roach, rudd and skimmers to over 20lb. Caster or worm over a bed of ground bait is the best tactic with the far end from 10 – 15 the best area. Best chance of bigger samples with tench to 5lb and carp to 10lb is to fish around the reed beds on pegs 20 – 23 with corn or meat.
WILLOW If you want bites Willow is the pool with lots of small skimmers, roach and curcians providing good sport through the week. The bigger fish are responding to bigger baits with 8mm pellet or corn tempting carp to 5lb and tench to a similar size. Pegs 5 & 6 the best.
GRATUITIES Roach and rudd are providing the bulk of catches with caster and maggot fished on the pole the best tactic.
RIVER BLYTHE The river has been in excellent condition and fishing very well over the past week. Chub, dace, roach and perch are going well to the maggot or caster on the stick float. Bread flake works best for bigger samples with chub to 3½lb and roach to over 1lb.
