REPORT
MOLANDS It has been exceptionally difficult in the matches with the F1’s only showing in a few areas. Pleasure anglers fishing on the surface have enjoyed the best of Molands this week with catches of up to 20 carp to 15lb reported and surface fished bread or dog biscuit have accounted for the better catches. Chopped worm and caster fished long on the pole is producing the better catches to match anglers. Best pegs are 4 – 8, 14 – 21, 29, 43 – 48 and 52 – 55.
GEARYS Fishing has improved this week with the evening sessions fishing particularly well at the moment. Match weights to over 100lb were recorded and pleasure anglers enjoyed even better success. Bomb, pellet waggler or candle with 8mm pellet has been the best approach in matches and pleasure anglers have caught lots by fishing a chum mixer or bread on a big controller. Carp to 19lb have been caught this week. Top pegs have been 1- 6, 9 – 13, 19 – 23 and 36 – 41.
LITTLE GEARYS Lots of F1’s and carp are showing on Little Gearys with shallow pole and pellet, method feeder to the island or meat down the margins accounting for good nets. The pool is very fair at the moment with lots of pegs capable of winning matches but 7 – 11, 15, 21 and 27 – 29 are particularly good areas.
GRATUITIES This pool has been fishing well with lots of carp in the 1 – 3lb bracket with tench, crucians, skimmers and even the odd barbel to 2lb showing. Shallow pole and pellet has been a good tactic this week or a small pellet/method feeder fished to the island. Best pegs 1, 4, 5, 15 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES Surface fishing has accounted for the bigger carp with fish to 18lb caught this week. Some good mixed nets of skimmers, tench, crucians, F1’s and small barbel are coming to pellet or small pieces of meat fished on the pole ands tight up to the islands have been best. Top pegs are 1 – 6, 9, 12, 15 and 19 – 23. WILLOW A pellet feeder fished tight across to the island has been working well with lots of carp from 2 – 4lb and F1’s falling to this approach fishing tight into the margins and meat or corn has worked well in the late evening for the bigger carp as fish to over 15lb have been caught on this tactic this week.
CRESCENT/ALDER/REEDY BAY AND FIRST BAY All of these pools have been in good form producing plenty of fish with carp, F1’s and skimmers providing anglers with lots of bites. These pools are good for the kids or beginners who want to get the float going under and do not mind what size fish they catch.
