FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 2/12/12
Last week 50 rods caught 136 fish for an average of 2.72.
It has been another quiet week with the weather putting some anglers off at the moment. The fishing on Cocks Close has been good with most anglers catching well and a variety of tactics working. Small Nymphs, Buzzers and Bloodworm patterns fished under an indicator is probably the most consistent approach but Lures such as Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, Viva, Minkies and Fritz patterns are also working well.
The best fish of the week was a 7lb 2oz rainbow caught by Mr G Smith of Birmingham who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he used a Cats Whisker on a sinking line to tempt it. Nr C White of Northants had a 5lb rainbow in a four fish catch from the bank of Cocks Close and these all fell to a Humungus Lure. Dave Talbot of Coventry caught and released eight fish to 5lb from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to an orange head Damsel Nymph.
On the members’ waters, Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield caught six fish to 4lb, all coming white Lures.
The top areas have been the high bank and wires bank on Cocks Close and the middle of the dam wall on Park Meadow in the deeper water
The work on Great Pool has now been completed and is now filling with water and we hope to have it back in action around Christmas time.
