REPORT
MOLANDS A stormy week with high winds made sport quite difficult but things settled down at the weekend and the fishing improved. F1’s to 3lb and skimmers to 2lb providing the bulk of the catches but the odd tench and carp also showing. Pole fished 4mm expander over micros is the top tactic. Best pegs 4 – 8, 12, 27 – 29, 43 – 48 and
53 – 60.
GEARYS There are two ways of approaching Gearys at the moment, long pole with pellet for skimmers, crucians and the odd carp or sit it out on punched bread on the lead for carp, with fish to over 15lb falling to this tactic. Best pegs are 6 – 12, 17, 19, 28 and 31 – 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Although weights have not been huge, Little Gearys has been pretty consistent and matches can be won from anywhere. Long pole and pellet and a small method feeder to the island have been the top tactics with F1’s and skimmers providing the main part of catches.
GRATUITIES The corner pegs 1, 8, 9 and 14 – 16 have been the best areas producing carp to 8lb, tench to 4lb, chub to 3lb, skimmers and crucians. Pole fished pellet or chopped worm has been the best approach, fishing long down the margins.
ANNIVERSARIES The early pegs in the top bay and the lawn areas have been the best, producing catches of small carp, tench, skimmers and roach on pole fished caster or pellet.
WILLOW Pegs 5 and 6 on the reed beds continue to be the hot pegs on Willow. Carp, F1’s and tench are coming to corn, pellet or caster on these. Skimmers, roach and crucians showing on most pegs with pole fished caster, maggot or expander pellet producing plenty of bites.
CRECENT This small pool has fished very well, particularly at the narrow end where fishing tight up to the far bank reeds has produced some good catches of carp. Corn or pellet has produced the best nets with fish to 8lb being caught.
