REPORT
MOLANDS A drop in temperature has seen sport slow up a little but Molands is still in decent form for early January. Roach to over 1lb and F1’s to 4lb have provided the bulk of the action but tench to 5lb and carp to double figures have also figured. Long pole with caster and maggot or pellet is working well and the pellet feeder or bando fished up to the island is also providing decent nets. Best pegs are 2, 8, 15 – 19, 25 – 31, 44 – 48 and 52 – 55.
GEARYS It has been very quiet on Gearys this week but the few anglers that have fished it have caught plenty of roach and skimmers with the pole fished pellet or ground bait feeder with pinkies or maggot working best. The high bank from pegs 6 – 12 has been the best area.
LITTLE GEARYS The pegs along both straights from 7 – 12 and 25 – 29 have been the most consistent with mainly F1’s showing but a number of carp in the 4 – 6lb range were caught. A small pellet feeder or bando fished up to the island and long pole with pellet over micros are the top tactics.
GRATUITIES Probably the best pool this week with decent nets of carp coming from most pegs. A small pellet feeder with corn, pellet or popped up bread has been the best tactic for fish averaging around the 2lb mark but a few bigger fish up to 10lb have been caught this week.
WILLOW The pegs from 1 – 7 have been in the best form with F1’s, carp and decent roach showing. The pellet feeder or small method fished right up to the island have been the best tactics for F1’s and carp with the roach responding to caster fished on a long pole.
RIVER BLYTHE The River Blythe has been in good form over the last week with some cracking chub to over 4lb coming out. Big baits such as lobworm or bread flake are working best.
