REPORT
MOLANDS Like all the pools, the fishing at the moment is very up and down with heavy rain followed by cold nights affecting sport. There have been some good catches with carp showing in areas and fish to over 15lb have been caught to bomb and bread fished close to the island. There were also some quality bream caught this week with Steve Edwards catching five for 25lb on Saturday’s Open on the pole and pellet from peg 4. Most consistent pegs this week have been 4, 8 – 12, 15, 27, 40, 43 – 48 and 54.
GEARYS It has been very tough on Gearys with the carp not showing in any numbers. Skimmers and roach are making up the better catches with 20lb possible on some areas and pole fished maggot, caster or expander pellet has been the top tactic. Best pegs are along the high bank from 6 – 13.
LITTLE GEARYS Match weights to 40lb this week with some decent catches coming from all around the pool. F1’s, skimmers and a few decent sized carp up to double figures have featured in nets this week. Long pole with pellet or corn is the top tactic, a good back up is a small method/pellet feeder fished tight up to the island. Top pegs 3, 5, 7 – 11, 21, 25 – 29.
WILLOW Pegs 5 and 6 still the favourite area with plenty of F1’s and carp coming to a pellet feeder fished tight up to the island. On the other pegs, long pole with caster or expander pellet or maggot are accounting for mixed nets of roach, skimmers, F1’s and crucians.
GRATUITIES Carp to 6lb showing on some pegs with the favoured cornered pegs best this week. Dobbing corn or bread along the banks on these pegs have been working well or long pole with pellet also accounting for some decent nets of smaller carp. Top pegs are 1, 5, 8, 9 and 16.
