REPORT
MOLANDS Much improved this week with more carp showing along with F1’s and skimmers. Match catches to over 90lb this week but the most impressive bag was the 85lb 12oz caught by John Merchant for second place in Wednesday’s open. John’s bag was mainly skimmers from 1 – 2lb caught on paste fished down the first shelf. Straight lead and pellet or pellet feeder has been the best tactic for carp with fish into double figures but averaging around the 5lb mark. Best pegs have been 1 – 3, 10 – 12, 15 – 19, 27, 43 – 46 and 55 – 60.
GEARYS Another pool that has seen an increase in the number of carp being caught with the best reported a 22lb common with plenty of doubles coming out too. Straight lead and pellet is accounting for the bigger catches fishing out at around 20 – 30 metres. Good mixed nets of carp, skimmers, crucians and tench coming to chopped worm with caster or paste fished close in along the high bank. Best pegs are 7, 9 – 6, 19 -21, 27,
29 – 31 and 35.
LITTLE GEARYS Very consistent with most pegs fishing well for F1’s, skimmers and an increasing amount of proper carp. Up in the water has been the best tactic feeding 4mm pellets and fishing 6mm on the hook but pellet feeder to the island or paste down the edge is also worth a try. Best pegs are 7 – 13, 17 – 21 and 26 – 30.
GRATUITIES Fished well for most with plenty of tench up to 6lb, carp from 1 – 4lb, crucians and skimmers being caught. The end pegs are the most productive fishing along the near edge with meat, corn, paste or pellet and alternating baits for the best results.
ANNIVERSARIES Anglers have enjoyed good sport with mixed nets of small carp, tench, skimmers, crucians on the pole with pellet or chopped worm and caster. The bigger carp are being caught off the top with double figure fish falling to dog biscuit. Best pegs are 1 – 3, 6, 10, 15 and 22.
SIBLINGS Pleasure anglers have caught plenty of skimmers and crucians coming to the pellet fished over ground bait or micros. Lots of carp on the top and fish into double figures were caught on floating baits. The best area has been the reed beds at the top end of the pool.
