FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 8/7/12
Last week 67 rods caught 130 fish for an average of 1.94.
For most of the week the wet and windy conditions prevailed and rod numbers were quite low. The fishing has been good for the time of year with boat anglers scoring best particularly on the day ticket water Cocks Close.
The best fish of the week was a 7lb 12oz caught by 12 year old angler Jack Preston of Solihull who caught it on a home tied Buzzer on a floating line whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Brian James of Coleshill had a 5lb 6oz rainbow on a small black dry fishing on Cocks Close. Harold Lewis of Knowle caught eight fish up to 3½lb from a boat on Cocks Close and these fell to a variety of flies including red Buzzers and Diawl Bach.
Andrew Mein of Nuneaton caught five from a boat on the Great Pool and these all fell to a Damsel fished on an intermediate line.
The best areas have been the high bank, wires bank and sand bank on Cocks Close. The dam walls at Great Pool and Park Meadow on the members’ waters are fishing best.
Top flies are Bloodworm, Damsel, Cul de Canard, Pheasant Tail, black or red Buzzer, supender Buzzer and Cats Whisker. Contact the Fishery on 01676 522754 or check out our website on www.packingtonestate.net.
