REPORT

MOLANDS   The first spawning activity was seen early in the week making the fishing very much up and down throughout the rest of the week.  F1’s provided the main sport with everything else pre-occupied and shallow tactics were responsible for the bigger catches during the day with long pole and pellet fished from 6” down to 18” working well along with the candle or pellet waggler.  In the evenings, paste down the margins is working well with F1’s, crucians, skimmers and carp coming to this.  Best pegs are 2, 4, 10 -13, 21 – 25, 29 – 33, 40 – 46 and 57 – 60.

GEARYS   As with all the pools, spawning has affected the fishing on Big Gearys.  Catches were down with 40 – 50lb required to win matches but pleasure anglers fishing into the evenings saw the best of the action with several 100lb+ bags reported this week.  Pinging 8mm pellets and fishing method/pellet feeder over the top is working well in matches.  Later in the day, paste, corn or meat fished down the margin is catching carp to 18lb.  Top pegs are 1 – 4, 9 – 12, 19 – 23, 27 and 31 – 36.

LITTLE GEARYS    Catches to over 80lb during the week but slowed down towards the weekend.  The top tactic on Little Gearys is to fish long and shallow with pellet or caster for F1’s.  There have been plenty of fish being caught down the edge in the latter part of matches or in the evenings by pleasure anglers.  Corn or large pieces of meat are sorting out the bigger F1’s and carp.  Best pegs are 3 – 8, 11, 17 and 24 – 28.

GRATUITIES   The middle of the pool on both sides has been better this week with pegs 3 – 7 and 11 – 14 providing the better catches.  Carp to 9lb, crucians, skimmers and rudd have made up the catches with pole and pellet/caster fished short on a small pellet feeder fished to the island working best.

ANNIVERSARIES    It has been a bit slow on the carp front but pleasure anglers wanting to get lots of bites have not been disappointed with crucians, F1’s, small carp and skimmers feeding well this week.  Pole fished pellet, caster or maggot have been working well with the early pegs 1 – 9 and the far side from 19 – 23 the top areas.

SIBLINGS    A few bigger carp have been caught off the top with floating baits such as dog biscuit accounting for fish to 19lb.  The tench have slowed down a bit but fish to 6lb have been caught on meat or corn fished up to the reed beds at the top end of the pool. Caster or maggot is producing lots of silvers including skimmers to 2lb, roach and rudd.

WILLOW   Fished steadily this week with plenty of carp, F1’s and skimmers showing all round the pool.  The bigger catches have come to the pellet feeder or method fished as tight to the island as you can with meat or banded hard pellet on the hook.  Pellet waggler is also accounting for a few fish as well.
CRESCENT/ALDER/FIRST BAY/REEDY BAY   These small pools are providing lots of action with small carp, F1’s, roach, rudd and skimmers all feeding well.  Crescent is better for bigger sized carp with fish to double figures being caught on meat or pellet fished tight across to the far bank
