REPORT
MOLANDS The cold north easterly breeze over the past week saw sport drop towards the weekend just in time for the Fishomania Qualifier on Saturday. Through the week the better catches were taken fishing close in with paste or chopped worm and caster, fishing just a couple of metres out down the first ledge. Tench to 6lb, F1’s to 2lb, bream, crucians and carp all came to this tactic. The method feeder or pellet feeder fished across to the island also accounted for a few fish with the Scarecrow Point reporting better to this tactic. Best pegs this week are 2, 10 – 14, 25 – 29, 42 – 48 and 55 – 58.
GEARYS Match weights to 80lb, mainly of carp coming out, but sport was a little slower than the week before. Pleasure anglers enjoyed the best of the catches fishing into the evening when the fish are patrolling the margins and fish to over 16lb have been taken on corn, meat or paste down the edge. The bream still showing the effects of spawning but catches of up to 40lb have been caught on long pole and pellet. Best pegs are 1, 6, 9, 15, 19, 24, 28, 31 – 33 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Still not in the best of form but catches to over 50lb were caught in matches this week and this involves quite a few fish with F1’s averaging around the 1lb mark. Shallow tactics with pellet or caster have accounted for the better catches but the method feeder is also starting to produce. Best pegs are 3, 7 – 11, 19, 23 and 27 – 29.
GRATUITIES Pegs 1, 2, 8 – 11 and 15 – 16 have all been fishing well over the past week with carp in the 1 – 3lb range and a few bigger samples and also tench from 2 – 4lb providing the bulk of the bags. Method and pellet feeder fished tight to the island have been the best tactics
WILLOW Lots of carp in the 1 – 4lb range coming out along with a few bigger samples into double figures. On the pegs you can fish tight up to the island with the pole, meat or corn working best for the bigger fish. Fishing down the near margin is also working well for carp and tench. Best pegs are 1, 5, 6 and 10 – 12.
ANNIVERSARIES This pool has been fishing very well this week with mixed nets of tench, carp, skimmers and crucians coming out from all areas. Peg 1 is the animal peg and fish to 18lb have been caught fishing meat or paste under the far gorse bush. Pole and pellet or corn have been the best tactics fishing around the pool with 1 – 6, 9, 10, 15, 17 and 22 in great form.
SIBLINGS Another pool in good form with tench to over 6lb, carp into double figures and plenty of skimmers and cruicans coming our this week. The top end of the pool amongst the reed beds has been the best area fishing with corn, meat or paste.
