REPORT
MOLANDS The very cold weather has disrupted sport on Molands with the fishing during the day quite hard, evening matches or sessions have been better. Maggot or caster fished down the margins has been the top tactic but a small pellet feeder to the island is also accounting for a few fish. F1’s to 6lb and carp to double figures have featured in catches. Best pegs are 2, 8, 12, 15 – 19, 27 – 31, 41, 46 and 56 – 60.
GEARYS The shallow water of Gearys has been badly affected by the extreme weather we saw last week with catches right down. Carp to 18lb have featured in nets but carp numbers are still low and straight lead and pellet has been the most effective tactic. The bream and skimmers are still proving the best action with worm/caster or pellet catching fish to 5lb on the pole. Top pegs are 9 – 13, 16, 17, 19, 21, 27 and 31.
LITTLE GEARYS Decent sport has been had from most areas of the pool with F1’s, including one weighed in at 9lb 2oz caught this week, providing the main action with carp, skimmers and crucians also showing. Maggot or pellet fished close in down the near margin is working well and shallow pole and pellet is also starting to come into its own. Top pegs are 3, 5, 7 – 12,
18 – 21 and 24 – 29.
GRATUITIES Some lovely fishing to be had on Grats at the moment with lots of crucian carp showing and they are coming to pole or waggler fished halfway across to the island on caster, maggot or expander pellet . Carp to 10lb are being caught on pellet waggler or feeder to the island.
SIBLINGS A There are lots of bites to be had with soft pellet, meat or caster catching plenty of small carp, F1’s and ide. Long pole to the island during the day but later on the fish are moving close into the margins.
SIBLINGS B Lots of F1’s showing with pole fished pellet or maggot over micro pellets working well for nets to 60lb.
ANNIVERSARIES A little slower than last week but some good catches are being made. Bream to 5lb and lots of F1’s are making up the nets with float fished corn or pellet best. Top pegs 1 – 4, 10, 17 and 19 – 23.
