FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 25/11/12
Last week 43 rods caught 137 fish for an average of 3.18.
A very quiet week in terms of customers but the weather in the past week could hardly be described as quiet. Wet and windy conditions saw the rod numbers drop but those that braved the conditions were rewarded with some decent sport.
The best fish of the week was an 11lb rainbow which was caught and released by Richard Huckvale of Coventry who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he caught it on a green and white Hot Head Lure fished on a floating line. Dave Roberts also of Coventry caught an 8lb 6oz rainbow in an eight fish catch from the bank of Cocks Close and these all fell to Buzzers and Bloodworm. Harold Pritchett of Mancetter continues his good run for big fish, catching an 8lb 3oz rainbow in a five fish haul weighing in at 18lb 1oz and he also released a further six fish and these all came to a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line from a boat on Cocks Close.
On the members’ waters, Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield caught five fish to 4lb from a boat on Park Meadow.
The best tactics at the moment are to fish Buzzers, Bloodworms or small Nymphs on a long leader and floating line. Other top flies are black, red or olive Epoxy Buzzers, Bloodworms, Diawl Bach, GRHE and small Damsels. White or black Lures are also producing a few fish.
The best areas on Cocks Close are the far side along the high bank and the old boat jetty area.
