REPORT
MOLANDS The more autumnal weather saw catches drop a little last week with match weights to over 70lb but typically patchy. The near bank from pegs 2 – 15 has been the best area with carp to double figures and some decent F1’s to 3lb making up the better catches. Straight lead and pellet and feeder with maggot, pellet or meat on the hook have been the best tactics.
GEARYS Again match weights to over 70lb but like Molands very patchy with some areas producing plenty of carp and others struggling. The areas that have the breeze have been best and with the winds mostly in the west, pegs 14 – 19 have been the top areas with 27 and 29 – 32 also showing a bit of form. Method feeder or straight lead and pellet have given the best catches.
LITTLE GEARYS Little Gearys not as good as recent weeks with the heavy colour putting sport down although 20 – 30lb possible from any peg but matches have been won with 40lb. Mostly F1’s in the 12oz – 1½lb range and pole fished pellet or a small method feeder fished to the island have been the better tactics.
GRATUITIES The lower pegs 1, 8, 9, 15 and 16 have been in the best form and pleasure anglers have reported bags of carp and tench to 50lb off these pegs. Pole fished pellet or worm and caster the best tactics.
ANNIVERSARIES Carp in the 1 – 3lb bracket showing well on the early pegs to corn or pellet fished on the pole. Mixed nets of skimmers, tench and crucians coming to maggot/worm or pellet on the other areas.
WILLOW Pleasure anglers have caught carp to double figures off the top with biscuit or bread catching plenty of fish this week. Pellet or caster fished down the middle has caught plenty of skimmers, tench, crucians and a few carp. Best pegs are 1- 6.
CRESCENT/FIRST BAY/REEDY BAY/ALDER These small pools have been in good form over the past week with carp to 6lb and plenty in the 1 – 3lb range coming out along with tench, crucians and even some bigger roach. Pellet or corn fished up to any of these features has been the top tactic.
