FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 14/10/12
Last week 85 rods caught 244 fish for an average of 2.87.
Cocks Close has been in good form with the boats still producing better than the bank but usually after a couple of frosts the bank fishing improves.
The best fish of the week was a 7lb 12oz rainbow caught by Mr J Lavery of Solihull who took it on a Gold Head Nymph on a floating line while fishing from the bank of Cocks Close. Matthew Bird of Atherstone caught a couple of 6lb rainbows during a catch and release session fishing from a boat on Cocks Close where he caught over 20 fish on black Buzzers fished on a floating line. Ray Inman of Birmingham fished from a boat on Cocks Close with a small Bloodworm pattern which helped him catch seven fish to 3½lb. Harold Pritchett of Mancetter took a five fish limit to 4lb and released a further six fish which all came to a home tied Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line.
The best areas on Cocks Close are around the middle willows and the sand bank just out from the lodge.
Top patterns are Damsel Nymph, black and red Buzzer, GRHE, sunken Daddies, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach and Cats Whisker.
The Hall Pool on the members’ waters is now filling and should be back in action next weekend. Park Meadow has now re-opened for fishing as well. Great Pool is now being lowered to fill Hall Pool and small repairs to the dam wall will be undertaken meaning that this pool will be out for a few weeks.
Cocks Close opens at 8am and closes at dusk.
