REPORT
MOLANDS Molands has been very up and down with afternoon sessions best for consistent results. Match weights to around 80lb were best and the F1s are definitely on to the natural baits with maggot and caster outscoring the pellet at the moment. There have been some big carp caught with a fish of 20lb caught in a club match and quite a few doubles also showing. Top
tactics have been long pole fished on the deck or shallow during the daytime but in the afternoon, fishing close in down the edge with maggot catching some big F1s. Top pegs have been 2, 10, 12, 19, 23, 33, 41 – 46 and 52 – 56.
GEARYS It has been a bit better this week with carp showing all around the pool and plenty of fish into double figures being caught. Bomb and pellet is working well again fished at around
25 metres pinging 8mm pellet. It is even worth trying the pellet waggler over the line as well. Good nets of skimmers to 40lb have also been caught with pole fished worm/caster or expander pellet over ground bait working best. Top pegs have been 1, 6 – 13, 18, 20, 27, 31 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Like all the pools the top weights have been down a little but Little Gearys is very consistent with lots of catches from 40 – 50lb being caught from all around the pool. Maggot is starting to dominate either fished shallow or on the deck. Waggler with 6mm pellet is probably the best tactic for carp fishing tight up to the island.
GRATUITIES Still not in the best form with the water clarity making it difficult. Catches of carp in the 2 – 4lb range being made on waggler with bread punch or corn. Mixed nets being taken on caster or maggot fished down the middle.
WILLOW Patchy but some good catches are being made with lots of carp in the 2 – 5lb mark and F1s up to 3lb being caught. Pole fished caster, worm or banded hard pellet fished at 14.5 metres or down the margins has been the best approach.
SIBLINGS A (Doughnut) Hard one day, great the next, sums up the fishing on Siblings A. When it is good, mixed nets of F1s, carp, ide and skimmers are coming to pole fished maggot, caster or expander pellet. The far side from pegs 7 – 9 and 20 – 22 has been the best area.
SIBLINGS B (Horseshoe) Fishing surprisingly hard this week with the F1s playing hard to get. Anglers are catching nets to 30lb which is plenty of fish but not in the same form as a few weeks back. Pole fished pellet, worm and caster are best.
