REPORT
MOLANDS Still a little hit and miss with the strong winds making sport a little more awkward as well. Match catches to over 60lb caught with mixed nets of F1’s, skimmers and crucians coming to the pole fished pellet or chopped worm and caster fishing down the first shelf or out at 8 – 10 metres. The carp are responding best to straight lead and pellet with fish to 13lb caught this week. Best pegs are 2, 8 – 12, 29 – 31, 44 – 46 and
54 – 58.
GEARYS The skimmers seemed to have switched off with carp making up the better catches at the moment. Carp to 18lb caught in matches with the straight lead and pellet approach in a method/banjo fished out to the stumps the top tactics. Best pegs have been 10 – 13, 19 and 30 – 36.
LITTLE GEARYS By far the best pool this week with lots of catches from 40 – 60lb recorded in matches made up of lots of fish with F1’s and skimmers to 2lb providing the bulk of the catches. Shallow pole and pellet fished at 10 – 13 metres or paste/worm down the near margin have been the best tactics. Top pegs are 7 – 13, 19 – 21 and 24 – 27.
GRATUITIES Fished quite hard this week with pleasure catches estimated to 40lb mainly of tench to 4lb and carp from 1 – 3lb. Pellet or meat fished on the pole at 6 – 8 metres has been the better tactic with a small feeder to the island a good back up. Best pegs are 6 -9, 11 and 14 – 16.
ANNIVERSARIES There have been lots of fish being caught with small carp, skimmers, tench and crucians showing all around the pool. Pellet, corn or caster fished on the pole has been working well for mixed nets. A few bigger carp coming to paste or meat fished tight up to the island. Top pegs are 1 – 4, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 21 – 23.
WILLOW Willow is fishing very well with lots of carp showing around the near margin with pellet, paste or meat all accounting for decent nets. The carp are averaging around the 2 – 3lb mark but quite a few doubles were caught last week. Skimmers, crucians and tench also being caught and pellet down the middle is producing plenty of bites.
SIBLINGS Mixed nets of skimmers, crucians and tench are coming to pellet fished over ground bait with the far end of the pool fishing best. The carp are showing best in the shallower water at the top end with fish to 14lb reported but plenty of the 6 – 10lb range coming to meat or corn fished against the reed beds.
