REPORT
MOLANDS Molands has been in good form this week with a variety of tactics working at the moment. Long pole and pellet fished shallow or on the deck is working well for F1’s and skimmers. Method/pellet feeder fished up to the island or waggler and 8mm pellet have been the best tactics with fish to 10lb showing in numbers. Match weights to over 80lb and pleasure anglers reporting catches to over 100lb this week. Best pegs are
2 – 4, 8 – 12, 15 – 19, 25 – 29, 42 – 48 and 54 – 60.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
GEARYS This pool is still a little patchy with the carp still showing all over the pool but responding best to floating baits or shallow tactics. Bread or dog biscuit fished on the top have accounted for fish to 15lb. The match anglers have found fishing out to the middle stumps with a method feeder and dead reds or pellet the top tactic with pole and corn a good alternative. Top areas have been from pegs 1 – 16. 19 – 21 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Fished well early in the week with 100lb+ winning Mondays’ Subscriber Classic but catches were lower towards the weekend. Up in the water tactics are working best on the duller days but during brighter spells, feeder tactics to the island have worked best. F1’s and carp to 4lb have made up the bulk of the catches. Best pegs are 1, 5, 7 – 13, 21 and 25 – 27.
GRATUITIES A new pool record caught on Sunday, Smithys Angling Centre Autumn League match with John Newton catching 103lb of mainly carp with a few tench and skimmers on pole fished worm over caster from peg 9. The pool has fished pretty well all week with pole fishing best with corn expander pellet or chopped worm and caster. Best pegs 1, 4 – 8, 9 and 11.
WILLOW The carp were going well early in the week but a few cold nights slowed sport down a little. Plenty of skimmers and roach being caught on caster or small expanders with the carp and tench feeding better later in the day on corn or meat fished down the margins. Best pegs 1, 5, 6, 8 and 11.
ANNIVERSARIES Floating baits best for carp with plenty of fish between 10 and 15lb caught this week. Mixed bags of carp, tench, crucians, skimmers and barbel are coming to the pellet or chopped worm and caster. Best pegs 1, 4, 6, 15, 17 and 21 – 23.
SIBLINGS Some cracking carp coming out to floaters with fish to 19lb caught this week. Good nets of tench and skimmers coming to meat or pellet fished over a ground bait or micros close in between two and six metres from the bank. The reed bed end of the pool is best for carp and the far end for mixed catches.
