PACKINGTON SOMERS FIHSERY
REPORT
MOLANDS The very cold weather has seen Molands frozen on and off over the Christmas period and fishing has been patchy. The top area for the most consistent fishing is around Scarecrow Point with pegs 42 – 48 providing F1’s and skimmers to pole and pellet or caster.
GEARYS Like all the pools, ice has affected the fishing and the carp have ‘shut up shop’ at the moment. Skimmers are providing the best chance of action with fish to 3lb in nets to 20lb. Pinkies, caster or pellet fished over ground bait is the best approach with the high bank pegs 1 – 13 the better pegs.
LITTLE GEARYS Little Gearys is up and down at the moment with good fishing one day then hard the next. F1’s and skimmers are providing the best chance of sport with pole fished pellet or maggot at 13 – 16 metres the best approach. Waggler and maggot are also worth a go fished up to the island.
GRATUITIES There are good mixed nets of carp, crucians, perch, roach and skimmers coming to pole fished maggot or caster, particularly from the corner pegs 1, 8, 9 and 15. Waggler with punched bread or maggot fished to the island is catching a few carp and bigger skimmers.
WILLOW One of the most consistent pools over the last couple of weeks with F1’s and carp coming to waggler or pellet feeder fished to the island. Pole with caster or maggot is producing plenty of bites from skimmers, roach and the odd carp, F1’s or crucians. Best pegs are 1, 5, 6, 8, and 11.
CRESCENT During the colder weather, Crescent has been fishing really well with carp to 8lb and lots of silvers showing to pellet or maggot fished on the pole.
