FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 12/6/11

Last week there were 113 rods caught 250 fish for an average of 2.21.

The boat anglers are enjoying more consistent action on all of the pools with the fish pushing away from the banks at the moment.  There have been lots of fish moving to Sedges and Buzzers but also taking Pin Fry as well.  The best patterns to fish are CDC Emergers, black or olive Buzzers, Hoppers, Shipmans Buzzer, Diawl Bach, Damsel and pearly P T Nymphs with floating lines working best.

The middle willows, out to the high bank is the best area on Cocks Close.  On the Great Pool, the deep water near the dam wall is the top area, although the fish are not that far down.  On the Hall Pool, the cattle drink area down to the dam wall is fishing well.

The best fish of the week was a 8lb 12oz rainbow caught by Andrew Moulder of Knowle who was fishing from a boat on the Great Pool and he took it on a Buzzer fished on a floating line along with six other fish.  Allan Bowen of Birmingham took a 5lb fish amongst a catch of eight from a boat on Cocks Close and these came to Damsels and Pheasant Tails fished on floating lines.  Derek Bevan of Birmingham used a Gold Head Damsel to tempt fish on the Hall Pool with the best at just over 5lb.  Father and son, Alan and Nicholas Moore of Coventry shared a boat on Cocks Close and took eight fish to 4½lb on small Buzzers.
