REPORT
MOLANDS Very busy on the pool this week with lots of anglers practising for last weekends big match. The best time to fish is the evening session with carp and roach moving into the margins and pleasure anglers reported good catches on meat or corn fished tight to the margins. Match weights to over 50lb the most consistent tactic with pellet feeder or method feeder fished to the island with pellet, polony or meat on the hook for carp and F1’s. Best pegs are 2, 4, 10, 12, 21, 26 – 28, 39, 44 – 46 and 60.
GEARYS Lots of carp moving on top all over the pool and pellet waggler or straight lead and pellet have accounted for some good nets with fish running to 18lb. The skimmers are still not showing as well as they were a couple of weeks ago with nets to 40lb best on pole and pellet or chopped worm and caster. The fishing has improved as the week went on and you can expect some big catches when the weather warms up again.
LITTLE GEARYS Little Gearys is still fishing a little harder than expected with the fish still in a post spawning slumber. Catches to over 60lb were best in matches but generally nets between 30 – 45lb were needed to frame. F1’s up in the water have been the main target with fish to 4lb coming to long pole and pellet. Paste fished down the near margin is better for mixed catches. Best pegs 11 – 14, 19 – 21 and 26 – 29.
GRATUITIES Another pool that is harder than it could be with catches of carp and tench between 30 – 40lb best. Pole fished meat or corn fished tight to any near bank features have been the better tactic with small pellet feeder fished up to the island with punched bread, meat or corn on the hook also worth a try. Best pegs are 1, 2, 8, 11 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES There has been great silver or mixed sport with tench, skimmers, rudd, crucians and carp showing all around the pool. Short pole at 4 – 5 metres with pellet or worm is the best approach. Best pegs 2, 6, 9, 10, 15, 19 and 22.
WILLOW Always popular and this is probably the most consistent pool on the complex. Mixed nets of carp, F1’s, tench and skimmers coming to float fished meat or expander pellet fished over micros. The method feeder fished to the island is also going well with punched bread, polony or pellet on the hook.
SIBLINGS Tench have been providing the best of the action with fish to 5lb coming to float fished corn or meat. A few bigger carp coming to boilies with fish to 19lb reported this week. The reed bed end of the pool is fishing the best.
