FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 3/6/12
Last week 90 rods caught 196 fish for an average of 2.18.
After a blazing hot start to the week, things turned a lot colder at the weekend. The fishing was quite hard during the brighter spell but improved as it got duller.
The best fish of the week was a 10lb rainbow caught by fishery regular Pete Blake of Meriden who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he took it on a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line. Dave Kimbrell of Coventry caught six fish whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and the best was 9lb 8oz, these all fell to a Cats Whisker. Kevin Brookes of Tamworth caught a superb 8lb brownie on a sunken Daddy Long Legs whilst fishing from a boat on the Great Pool. Kevin also took four others and returned a further six on the same pattern. Dr H Khana of Coventry fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught a 9lb 8oz rainbow on a small white Lure fished on an intermediate line.
Best patterns are small CDC Emergers, GRHE, Diawl Bach, Damsel Nymph, pearly P T Nymph and white Lures.
Best areas are the lodge corner and wires bank on Cocks Close, the far side and dam end on Great Pool and the dam wall on Park Meadow.
The fishery was hit by a mini disaster during the week when a culvert collapsed on the Hall Pool resulting in the draining of the entire lake. It is thought that repairs and refilling will take a few months so the pool is out of action until the autumn.
