FISHING REPORT
MOLANDS The warmer weather saw the early signs of carp spawning and the fishing has been a lot tougher because of this. Match weights to 80lb were best with method feeder and meat to the island the top tactic but bomb/waggler with pellet and corn over micros fished down the margins also worked. Pleasure anglers have caught fish to 20lb off the top with dog biscuit or bread and a lot of doubles have been caught fishing corn or big pellets really tight later in the day.
GEARYS Fished well through the week but got harder at the weekend with the carp starting to spawn. Match weights to nearly 140lb were caught with pole fished pellet tight up to the island, bomb with 8mm pellet and ‘mugging’ tactics accounting for surface sport or dog biscuit on the deck with red fruity boilies fished over PVA bags.
LITTLE GEARYS Steady sport this week with carp to 18lb and F1s up to 7lb making nets to 100lb. Method feeder or waggler to the island, caster shallow and down the margins with 6mm pellet and dead maggot or caster have been the better tactics. Pegs 5 – 13 and 23 -30 have been the top pegs.
GRATUITIES Waggler or a small feeder to the island with corn or pellet on the hook has been the best way to catch carp from 3 – 8lb. Later in day, bigger fish were coming into the margins and fish to 17lb have been caught on meat or corn.
ANNIVERSARIES Fished a little tough all week with nets to around 50lb best. Pole fished caster, maggot or pellet on the deck or shallow has been the best approach. Carp to double figures were coming to worm or corn fished down the edges later in the day.
SIBLINGS A Nets to 100lb have been coming out despite lots of spawning activity for the past few days. Dead maggot fished over ground bait to the island has been the top tactic but caster fished shallow and corn or maggot down the margins is also working.
SIBLINGS B Far bank and near margins have been the best areas to fish with F1s and small carp making up the catches. Dead maggot, caster, pellet and corn have been the top baits.
WILLOW Steady fishing all around the pool with F1s to 6lb and plenty of stockies. The carp are coming to pellet or corn fished over micros. Better sized carp coming from the island with waggler and pellet accounting for fish into double figures.
