FISHING REPORT
MOLANDS The F1s have still not been feeding well but the bigger carp have made up for them with 20lb+ fish caught and lots from 8 – 15lb featuring in match and pleasure nets. Pleasure anglers have caught well on the top with dog biscuit or oily floaters fished tight up to the island or close into the margins. In the matches, top tactics have been method feeder or bomb and pellet to the island or down the margins with pellet, worm or dead maggot.
GEARYS In the hot weather last week Gearys was the top pool with nets to 100lb+ coming out from plenty of pegs. Bomb with pellet, ‘mugging’ or ‘slapping’ on the pole and down the edges with pellet, dead maggot over ground bait or corn over micros have all worked well. There are lots of fish being caught off the top with bread or dog biscuit and carp to 24lb were reported last week.
LITTLE GEARYS As with most of the F1 dominated pools it was a little tough last week in the very hot conditions. There were nets to 100lb but the average catches were a lot lower. The carp were still feeding and mugging tactics or bomb with bigger pellet to the island, waggler and pellet or down the edges with pellet or worm were seeing fish to 18lb caught. The F1s feed better later in the day, down the margins and dead reds or 6mm pellets accounted for the better nets.
GRATUITIES A small pellet/method feeder to the island with waggler or small banded pellet on the hook was the best tactic for carp with fish from 3 – 6lb coming to this. There were bigger samples caught off the top with fish to 15lb taken on dog biscuit.
ANNIVERSARIES A little tough on Annies this week with the F1s not liking the bright hot conditions. Carp to double figures were caught along with plenty of small stockies in the 1 – 2lb range. Pole fished pellet, caster or maggot and bomb/waggler with 6mm pellet were the best tactics.
SIBLINGS A Improved through the week with carp up to 15lb featuring in catches along with F1s to 5lb. Corn, worm or dead maggot fished tight across to the island or down the margins was the best approach with ‘mugging’ also accounting for some nice fish.
SIBLINGS B Still a little tough but improved as the fish got used to the hot conditions. Shallow pellet or caster accounted for the better nets up to 70lb but fishing down the margins with pellet, worm or dead reds was also working.
WILLOW Although still a little tough by its own standards, fish were caught all around with carp to 8lb and F1s to 4lb being caught. Best tactics have been to fish down the margins with corn, worm or paste and even dropping a small method down the edges has worked quite well.
