FISHERY REPORT
MOLANDS Signs of an improvement over the weekend with the cooler more overcast weather seeing the F1s starting to feed and catches went up. Match weights to over 100lb were recorded along with some cracking carp going to nearly 20lb and F1s to 8lb. It has been mainly fishing across to the island with bomb or wafter and pellet or method feeder but a few catches on caster or pellet fishing shallow on the pole were made. Best pegs were 23 – 33 and 43 – 46.
GEARYS Match weights to nearly 170lb were caught and the pool generally fished better
all round once the high temperatures had started to drop. Carp up to 18lb featured in catches with pole fished 6mm pellet against any features like islands or down the margins working best. Bomb/waggler and pellet also worked well. Pleasure anglers saw good success on big boilies fished over pellets and there are still plenty being caught off the top on dog biscuit.
LITTLE GEARYS Like all the pools the fishing was difficult during the very hot weather but there were signs of an improvement at the weekend when it was cooler. Weights to over 100lb were caught by match and pleasure anglers. Shallow pole with caster or pellet was the top tactic but method feeder and pellet/waggler also caught a lot of fish at the weekend.
ANNIVERSARIES Much improved with lots of weights around the 50 – 70lb mark being caught and carp to double figures also featured. Pole fished caster, maggot or pellet fishing on the deck but coming shallow has been the best tactic but paste, corn or meat have also been worth a try. On the wider pegs, a small feeder fished to the far bank has also been successful.
WILLOW Steady this week with nets to around 60lb best made up of carp and F1s to around 5lb. Pellet or paste fished down the margins or across to the island has been working best. A small pellet waggler also doing well on the wider pegs.
SIBLINGS A Decent sport at the weekend with pleasure anglers reporting plenty of carp in the 4 – 8lb range, F1s, ide and skimmers. Catches to around 60lb best in matches but definitely on the way up after the high temperatures had gone. Pole fished maggot or caster has worked best fished shallow with pellet or corn tight against the island or down the margins also working well.
SIBLINGS B Lots of F1s from 1 – 3lb are being caught with the pole fished pellet, on the jigger or on the deck. The bigger carp were showing along the far bank with corn over micros or paste accounting for the better fish up to 10lb.
