FISHERY REPORT
MOLANDS The hot weather has seen the carp basking in huge numbers on the top and difficult to tempt but fish to nearly 20lb were tempted with floating baits or shallow tactics. The F1s are still not coming properly and nets to 80lb were best on bomb and pellet or a small pellet feeder fished to the island. Tench to 6lb and bream to 5lb featured in mixed nets on worm, paste or banded hard pellet fished close in down the first shelf.
GEARYS Fished ok this week with match weights to 100lb and pleasure anglers reporting bigger catches. Carp to 20lb have been caught by specimen anglers with boilies fished over pellets working best for the bigger fish. In the matches, bomb with 8mm pellet, pellet waggler and long pole with 6mm pellet have all been accounting for good nets. Pegs 7 – 21 has been the best area.
LITTLE GEARYS Consistent but not spectacular with nets to around 80lb made up nearly of F1s from 1 – 4lb but some decent carp have been caught by ‘mugging’ them off the top. The F1s are coming to long pole with pellet or caster, either on the deck or shallow and paste down the first shelf or a small method/pellet feeder to the island.
GRATUITIES Some nice fish being caught off the top or shallow with the pegs from 9 – 15 on the far side best. There have been plenty of silver fish and crucians being caught on maggot, corn, caster or paste as well with mixed nets to 40lb reported.
ANNIVERSARIES In decent form with the F1s showing all around the pool and the bigger carp on pegs 1 – 4, 15 and 21 – 23. The F1s are coming to maggot, paste or pellet on the deck or shallow with the carp coming to floating baits or boilies fished up to any feature.
WILLOW Lovely fishing this week with lots of tactics catching fish at the moment. The F1s are being caught shallow on pellet or caster or on the deck with paste. The better sized carp are being caught down the margins with paste or corn fished over micros.
SIBLINGS A Steady fishing with carp to double figures, F1s to 5lb, ide to over 1lb and skimmers being caught from all around the pool. Dobbing corn or pellet across to the island and fishing down the margins with corn, caster, worm or pellet have been the best tactics.
SIBLINGS B Very good this week with a near record catch of 170lb by local legend Phil Canning, lots of good catches being the highlight. Phil caught his net, which included F1s to 5lb and ide to 2lb on pole fished caster shallow fished to the far side on peg 5. Caster, pellet or maggot fished shallow have accounted for lots of nets over 50lb with paste also working.
