FISHERY REPORT
MOLANDS Very difficult this week with an algal bloom affecting the fishing at the moment. Weights to around 60lb were best in matches but there were some cracking carp caught by pleasure anglers with fish to 21lb reported. In the matches, bomb and pellet, method feeder to the island and down the edges with worm have been working best. The bigger carp are coming to boilies fished across to the island on the bomb or a method feeder.
GEARYS Still fishing very patchy at the moment with some areas producing well and others very hard. Match weights to 100lb were had but generally around 60 – 70lb has been winning. Bomb and pellet and long pole with banded hard pellet over 4mm have been the best tactics in matches. Pleasure anglers in particular fishing into the evenings have caught best with fish to 20lb coming to surface baits or on the boilies with fishing a PVA bag or on the method.
LITTLE GEARYS Still the most consistent pool with F1s showing all around and some decent carp to 18lb being caught as well. Method feeder to the island, pellet waggler, pole with caster shallow and down the margins with paste or corn have all accounted for decent catches this week. The far side from 6 – 13 have been in great form but good sport has been had from all pegs.
ANNIVERSARIES There have been plenty of F1s, ide and skimmers showing all over the pool with nets in matches to 70lb but pleasure anglers reporting even bigger catches. Pole fished pellet or caster shallow on the jigger has been the top tactic with corn and paste also worth a go. Carp to 17lb have been caught off the top on floating baits.
WILLOW Very popular with pleasure anglers and they have enjoyed decent sport this week. If you fish maggot or soft pellet on the float you can have catches all day with F1s, roach, skimmers, ide and even the odd chub being caught. A feeder to the island or down the margins with paste, corn and big pellet are accounting for the better carp up to 16lb.
CRESCENT This small pool has been very popular this week and good sport has been had with carp to 15lb and plenty of silver fish including roach to over 1lb and perch to 2lb. Float fished corn or paste have been working best for carp with maggot or caster over ground bait best for mixed nets.
GRATUITIES The far side from pegs 8 – 15 have been the better side for carp with fish to double figures and plenty around the 3 – 6lb range coming to waggler with pellet or a small feeder to the island. Good mixed nets coming to float fished maggot or soft pellet from most pegs.
SIBLINGS A Frustratingly patchy this week with nets to around 40lb best. Carp to 10lb, F1s to 4lb, ide and skimmers have all featured but not showing in great numbers. Corn fished over micros down the margins or paste fished across have been catching best.
SIBLINGS B More consistent than Siblings A with plenty of F1s showing along with carp, ide and skimmers. Short pole with pellet or caster has been the top tactic. Long pole fished across to the far bank fishing into the holes has also been doing well.
