FISHERY REPORT
MOLANDS Still not in the best of form with match weights to around 70lb best but pleasure anglers have reported bigger catches, particularly those who are targeting carp. Carp to 19lb have been reported with the bigger samples coming to boilies fished either to the island or down the margins. In the matches, pole fished 6mm pellet at 13 to 16 metres and bomb/waggler with pellet to the island have been the best tactics.
GEARYS Still very patchy with the fish showing on some areas and hard to come by on others. Carp to 20lb+ have been caught by carp fishermen fishing boilies over a spod mix with the middle stumps producing well to this tactic. In the matches, pellet/method feeder fished over pinged pellets have worked best with margin tactics such as corn or pellet close in working later in the day.
LITTLE GEARYS Like all the pools a mixture of algae and high pressure has made the fishing very hit and miss. Match weights to 100lb were caught but the consistency on Little Gearys has not been there. Long pole with pellet or maggot fished on the deck or shallow has been the best tactic with method feeder or bomb and pellet to the island also catching a few. Best pegs have been 5 – 13 on the far side.
GRATUITIES Silver fish have provided most of the action on Gratuities this week with skimmers, roach, tench and crucians coming to maggot, caster or soft pellet on the pole or waggler. A few carp have been caught on the corner pegs with corn or paste fished tight to the margins.
ANNIVERSARIES The F1s have been the best of the action on Anniversaries with fish to 5lb in nets to 50lb. Pole fished maggot, pellet or corn fished over micros has been the top tactic. A few bigger carp to double figures are coming to corn or meat fished against any feature or from the edges.
WILLOW Tough this week with shallow tactics the best approach, either on the pole with pellet or maggot or waggler with pellet fished around one foot deep and carp and F1s are coming to this during the day. In the afternoons/evenings, fishing down the margins with corn or paste is picking up the better sized carp.
SIBLINGS A Carp to 16lb have featured in catches along with F1s to 5lb, ide, skimmers and the odd tench. Dobbing corn or pellet across to the island and down the margins with the same baits have provided the best chance of good sport.
SIBLINGS B A bit slower this week with nets to 90lb best. The flat calm conditions have made it more difficult. The best pegs have been around the end of the pool with 7 – 11 providing F1s to 4lb along with a few carp to 8lb. Pole fished maggot or pellet either across to the far bank or close in at five metres has been the top tactic.
