FISHERY REPORT
MOLANDS The fish started spawning early in the week and it has had a major effect on the fishing with the F1s completely switching off. A few decent carp have been caught off the top on floaters and in the matches, mugging has caught fish to double figures. The biggest of the week was a 22lb 4oz mirror caught during the Starlets Vets match by Mick Gibbs who caught it on a worm fished down the margins.
GEARYS The carp were spawning early in the week and then the rest of the week were just cruising around on the top. The anglers that caught well used mugging tactics either on the pole or waggler. A few fish were coming to bomb with 18mm pellet, particularly in the shallow water on pegs 21 – 28. Carp anglers have found fishing baits such as dog biscuit or bread have produced the best approach with fish to 19lb coming to this.
LITTLE GEARYS Really out of sorts this week with the F1s not showing well. Carp have made up the better catches with 110lb of fish to 15lb but this was the outstanding catch of the week. The most consistent tactic has been a small pellet/method feeder to the island or waggler with 6mm pellet.
GRATUITIES It has been fishing ok on Grats with some nice mixed nets coming to natural baits such as worm, caster or maggot fished over ground bait. Bream to 3lb, roach to 1lb, perch to 1lb, crucians and the odd bonus tench or carp were to be had fishing down the middle of the pool. The bigger carp with fish to 15lb were caught this week fishing surface baits or waggler with corn/pellet up to the island.
ANNIVERSARIES A little more consistent than the other pools with nets to 30lb possible from every peg this week and catches were to over 50lb, made up mainly of F1s from half pound to 4lb have been caught. Maggot or banded 4mm pellet has been the best approach and some bigger carp were showing on the pegs 1, 2, 14, 19 and 22 with the overhanging features and fish to double figures were coming to corn or paste on the pole.
WILLOW The most consistent pool over the past week with lots of F1s being caught along with carp to high double figures, skimmers, tench and even the odd chub. Float fished corn or paste fishing down the margins or a waggler/feeder to the island has been the best approach.
SIBLINGS A Another pool that has switched off with the F1s not responding at all. Carp have made up the better catches with fish averaging around the 6lb mark in nets to around 40lb at best. Meat, corn or banded hard pellet fished across to the island or down the margins has been the best tactic.
SIBLINGS B Like all the pools, the spawning activity has really slowed down the sport on offer. Fish to 4lb, the odd carp to 8lb, ide and skimmers have made up the better catches and pole fished maggot or meat at five metres has been the best tactic.
