REPORT
MOLANDS The toughest it has been since the winter with the fish not feeding well since spawning and definitely not wanting the pellet at the moment. Paste fished at 4 – 10 metres or worm and caster have accounted for the better catches with mixed bags of tench, skimmers crucians and F1’s coming to this. Carp started to have a go on the far bank with method or pellet feeder and meat on the hook. Best pegs are 12 – 19, 27, 35 – 43 and 58 – 60.
GEARYS It was tough through the week with an improvement at the weekend with carp starting to show in larger numbers. The best tactics for carp are the method feeder with micro pellet, dead reds or pellet on the hook and pole fished paste down the near margin. The bream, crucians and tench have been responding better to pole fished pellet, corn or chopped worm and caster. Best pegs have been 7 – 13, 21, 25 -31 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Another pool suffering post spawning malaise but improved as the week went on. Various tactics have worked on Little Gearys with shallow pole and banded hard pellet or paste fished down the first shelf the most effective. Pleasure anglers fishing into the evening sessions have found the best action with mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers to over 50lb. Best pegs are 7, 11 – 13, 19 – 24 and 29.
GRATUITIES The best pool this week with tench going on the rampage, probably prior to their spawning. Anglers reporting catches of up to 40 fish from 1 – 5lb on straight lead and pellet or corn fished on the pole. Carp to 8lb, crucians, roach and rudd also willing to feed. Best pegs are 1, 6 – 9 and 13 – 16.
ANNIVERSARIES Really good for mixed nets of tench, crucians, skimmers and roach with float fished caster, expander pellet or corn working well. The bigger catches are coming at the end where the wind is blowing to but fish are being caught from all around the pool.
WILLOW Plenty of carp are coming out of Willow with most in the 4 – 7lb range along with the double figured fish close into the margins with meat or corn for best results. Pole fishing with expander pellet over micros is seeing good mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers with every peg producing good fishing at the moment.

REPORT
MOLANDS The carp, bream and roach starting spawning in the middle of the week and this has affected sport. The F1’s have followed the breeze down to the one end and pegs 1 – 6 and 56 – 61 are packed with them on top with shallow pole and pellet producing the best nets up to 70lb. In between spawning there have been a few carp caught as fish to 10lb are falling to the method fished tight up to the island with meat, dead maggot and small red boilies all accounting for a few fish. Bream and roach were caught in the England trial for Disabled and Veteran anglers with all competitors having to fish at
11 – 12 metres with bloodworm, the average catch was over 20lb for both days.
GEARYS The shallow water at the top end has been the best area, again the fish were spawning from about Wednesday onwards but carp were being caught on pole fished corn or paste and fish to 15lb were weighed in during matches. Along the high bank the skimmers have started to feed a little better with fish in the 1 – 2lb bracket coming to chopped worm and caster. The best pegs are 7 – 13 and 21 – 27.
LITTLE GEARYS The best methods are shallow pole and pellet at 11 – 13 metres with banded pellet or caster and paste fished down the rear side margins. Mainly F1’s which are up to 4lb (but mostly between 10oz and 1¼lb), a few carp to 8lb, skimmers and tench are showing. Best pegs are 7 – 9, 17 – 21 and 26 – 30.
GRATUITIES Fished very well this week with some superb nets of tench caught. Regular visitor Rex Bradley of Birmingham had 22 from 2 – 5lb on 8mm pellets fished on the lead to the island. Crucians and carp are also going well with pole and expander pellet or meat and dead red maggot fished on a small method feeder also producing good bags. Best pegs are 1 – 3, 8, 9 and 14 -16.
ANNIVERSARIES Fishing well for mixed nets of skimmers, crucians, roach and tench with pole fished pellet or corn fished tight up to the island working best. A few double figure carp were caught and these have fallen to the chum mixer on the top. Best pegs are 1 – 4, 9 – 11 and 14 – 16.
WILLOW Carp, tench and F1’s showing on most pegs with corn working well for these. Lots of skimmers and crucians are coming to small expanders fished over a bed of micros. Best pegs are 1, 5 – 7 and 9.
SIBLINGS The shallow end of the pool has been in the best form with skimmers, tench, crucians and a few carp being caught amongst the reed beds. Float fished corn, small chunks of meat and expanders have all been catching a few fish with maggot or caster producing lots of smaller samples.

REPORT
MOLANDS With frosts most mornings this week, it was not difficult to see why the afternoon/evening sessions produced the better catches. The waggler and 8mm pellet fished on the deck came back into play this week catching carp to 12lb and tench to 5lb. Fishery regular Derek Hartshorne fished the on peg 48, catching 17 tench between 2 and 5lb and three carp. The F1’s are spread all around the pool and one day they will be close in with pole and pellet catching well and the next you need to fish a small feeder to the island with banded pellet or dead red maggot. Best pegs are 2 – 4, 8 – 15, 31 – 33, 44 – 48 and 56 – 58.
GEARYS The shallow water of Gearys was badly affected by the overnight frosts and sport was difficult, despite this, carp to over 15lb have been reported and Fred Evans of Coleshill had one at 15lb 8oz and another of 12lb 11oz in a nine fish catch on the method feeder from peg 19. Straight lead or waggler with 8 or 10mm pellets has also been producing a few carp. Bream, skimmers and tench are coming best to long pole with expander pellet or caster fished over ground bait. Best pegs 9 – 11, 17 – 19, 28 and
31 – 36.
LITTLE GEARYS This has been the fairest pool with decent weights coming from all around. Shallow pole with banded hard pellets or caster and pole fished paste down the edge continues to produce the best catches. F1’s, carp and skimmers have been feeding best with pleasure nets to over 60lb caught this week. Top pegs are 4, 7, 11- 14, 17 – 29 and 26 – 28.
GRATUITIES The far side from pegs 11 – 15 is the best area with tench and carp being caught on a small feeder or straight lead with 6 or 8mm banded pellets on the hook. Plenty of crucians, roach and small tench are being caught on pole and expander pellet around the pool.
WILLOW Fishing well with lots of skimmers to 1lb, roach and crucians coming to the pellet, maggot or caster fished on the pole. Carp up to 10lb, F1’s and tench are falling to small pieces of meat or corn. Best pegs 1, 5, 6 and 9.
ANNIVERSARIES Peg 1 is producing carp under the far bank with meat or paste accounting for fish in the 4 – 8lb bracket. Tench and skimmers are being caught on float fished corn or pellet and caster is working well for quality roach, fish up to the islands or near bank features for best results.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 2/5/10
Last week there were 144 rods caught 431 fish for an average of 3 fish per rod.
The best fish of the week was a 14lb rainbow caught by Gordon Willet of Worcester who was fishing from a boat on the Great Pool. Gordon took the fish and four other rainbows on a small white Lure fished on an intermediate line. Jon Crowley of Coventry returned a brown estimated at 8lb whilst fishing the bank of Clocks Close which he took on a Diawl Bach fished on a floating line. Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished catch and release from the bank of Cocks Close and caught 12 fish to 6lb on small Buzzers fished under a sight indicator. John Bridgen of Tamworth fished from a boat on Park Meadow and caught five fish to 4lb on black Buzzer on a floating line.
A variety of tactics are working at the moment with small imitative patterns fished under an indicator or on a floating line and drifted round in the breeze, both doing well.
Alternately Lures fished on sinking or intermediate lines with black Tadpole, Cats Whisker and Minkies all accounting for a few fish.
The best areas have been the sand bank and road bank on Cocks Close, the deeper water by the dam walls of Hall Pool and Great Pool and the shallow water around the margins on Park Meadow.
The fishery will be holding its Spring Open competition on Saturday 8th May with tickets at £25.00 including a 2 Fish Ticket, catch and release and prizes. Please contact the lodge to book in or for further details.

REPORT
MOLANDS Fished really well through the week with carp now showing on most areas and fish to over 10lb are coming to the method or pellet feeder with banded 6mm pellet, dead reds or polony meat on the hook. F1’s, skimmers, tench and carp are also being caught by fishing down the first shelf at 4 – 5 metres with pellet and paste accounting for some big catches particularly in the evenings. Best pegs are 2, 8, 15, 19, 29, 31, 40, 44 – 46 and 56 – 60.
GEARYS Very good in the week but sport slowed as the weather cooled down at the weekend. The wind was pushing to the shallows and pegs 19 – 28 produced some good nets of carp, fishing paste or big expanders down the margins. On the other pegs mixed nets of skimmers, tench, carp and crucians were caught on pole fished pellet or chopped worm and caster.
LITTLE GEARYS Shallow pole and pellet has been the top tactic on Little Gearys with nets to 80lb caught in matches and by pleasure anglers. Plenty of F1’s, carp and skimmers being caught close in now with corn, pellet and paste fished tight up to the nearside vegetation. Best pegs are 4, 7 – 11, 17 – 21 and 28 – 30.
GRATUITIES This pool has been in superb form this week with anglers enjoying some incredible activity from tench with up to 40 fish in the 1 – 4lb range and the odd bigger fish being caught. Corn, meat or double red maggot fished over micro pellet is the top tactic either close in or on the feeder to the island.
WILLOW Always popular, Willow has provided some decent carp with fish up to 14lb reported this week. Worm, pellet or meat fished to the nearside features has been the best tactic and this has also worked for tench and the better sized skimmers. Maggot and caster are working well for skimmers, roach and crucians.
SIBLINGS Lots of skimmers, roach, rudd and crucians are being caught on small pellet or caster with corn or meat accounting for tench and the odd carp. It is best to fish close up to the features, either the reedbeds at the top end or close into the margins at the bottom end.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 25/4/10
Last week there were 177 rods caught 630 fish for an average of 3.56.
It was a very good week with most anglers enjoying the lovely weather along with excellent fishing. There were some cracking fish caught with the best a 19lb 6oz rainbow which was caught by our very own Tom Smith of Meriden who safely released the fish after a quick weigh. Tom used a white Fritz Lure to tempt it from the bank of Cocks Close and the fish is the best of the year so far from the fishery. Mr B Ward of Sutton Coldfield caught a 14lb 1oz rainbow on a Tadpole Lure and this also was taken from the bank of Cocks Close. Mr L Twigger of Corley had a 12lb 1oz from the Great Pool which fell to a Hares Ear Nymph fished on a floating line from a boat and this was the best of a five fish catch. Mr West of Coventry had a 10lb 14oz on a black and peacock Spider and this one was caught from a boat.
On Park Meadow pool, Messrs Malc Randle of Bedworth and Barry Waring of Exhall shared a boat and both took five fish limits and released a further six fish with the best of them weighing in at 5½lb. All of their fish were taken on black Lures fished on a long leader and floating line.
All of the pools are in great shape at the moment with fish moving all over them.
Best flies are Damsel Nymph, GRHE, Buzzers, P T Nymph, CDC Emergers, Diawl Bach and black Tadpole.
The fishery will be holding its Spring Open competition on Saturday 8th May with tickets at £25.00 including a 2 Fish Ticket, catch and release and prizes. Please contact the lodge to book in or for further details.
The Packington Fly Fishers Club is holding a ‘fly tying’ evening this Friday 30th April at 8pm in the Undercroft of Packington Hall. If anyone is interested please ring the lodge if you wish to go.

REPORT
MOLANDS The high pressure and cool nights had an effect on Molands with catches down on previous weeks. Despite this, fish are being caught all around the pool and there were lots of 40lb + bags in matches topped by 60lb+. Pleasure anglers probably had the best of the action with evening sessions producing good nets of carp, tench, F1’s and skimmers by fishing really close in as little as two feet of water. Expander pellet, corn and polony meat have been the best baits.
GEARYS There were a few lumps caught this week with fish to 18lb weighed in during matches. The shallow end from pegs 19 round to 30 has produced the better catches with carp being caught on pole and paste or pellet fished down the margins or up to any feature. Big skimmers around the 1 – 2lb mark have also been showing in numbers with chopped worm and caster or expander pellet fished on the pole at either 10 – 12 metres or again down the inside line.
LITTLE GEARYS Not massive weights but the fishing has been very fair on Little Gearys with bags from 30 – 40lb being caught all around the pool. Close in with pellet, caster or corn and this has been the top tactic for F1’s and skimmers, but the bigger carp are coming better to the method or pellet feeder fished as tight as you can to the island and fish to double figures have come to this.
GRATUITIES The tench have been providing the best sport on Gratuities and fish to 6lb have been coming out to 8mm pellet on the straight lead or corn/meat fished on the pole close in. Expander pellet on the pole is working for smaller carp to 2lb and plenty of crucians to 1lb. Best pegs are 1 – 5, 9, 14 and 15.
WILLOW Tench and carp are showing early morning and late evening with meat or corn fished over micro pellet working well. Plenty of silver fish are coming to maggot, caster or small expanders fished long on the pole. Best pegs are 1, 5, 6, 9 and 10.
ANNIVERSARIES The far side on the higher numbered pegs have been in the best form with mixed nets of skimmers, roach, crucians and the odd tench and carp. Caster or pellet is picking up the better stamp of fish with maggot working for the smaller fish.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 18/4/10
Last week there were 170 rods caught 554 fish for an average of 3.26.
Another cracking week at the fishery with some good weather combined with excellent fishing. There have been lots of fish moving particularly later in the day on all of the pools.
The best fish of the week was a 12lb 12oz rainbow caught by Ray Cramp of Coventry who was fishing on the Great Pool from a boat. Ray tempted the big one along with five other fish on small Diawl Bach fished on a floating line. Steven Roberts of Birmingham fished from a boat on Cocks Close catching seven fish with the best weighing 6lb 12oz and these all came to a Minkie Lure on an intermediate line.
Mr A Gilbert of Rugeley had a 9lb rainbow in a five fish bag from the Great Pool and these fell to an olive Loynton Guinea. Paul Beasley fished from a boat on Cocks Close catching five with one at 5lb 7oz and another at 5lb 1oz which all came to a Damsel Nymph.
As the water temperature rises more fish are falling to the more imitative patterns. Damsels, Diawl Bach, black or olive Buzzer, Bloodworm, pearly P T N, Hares Ear and CDC Emergers have all accounted for plenty of fish this week. Best tactics have been to fish floating lines and drift the fly round across the breeze.
The best areas are the road bank and sand bank on Cocks Close, the dam wall and far bank of Great Pool and the dam wall on Hall Pool.
The fishery will be holding its Spring Open competition on Saturday 8th May with tickets at £25.00 including a 2 Fish Ticket, catch and release and prizes. Please contact the lodge to book in or for further details.

REPORT
MOLANDS The pick of the pools again with some big catches of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers being taken on a variety of tactics. The method feeder or pellet feeder is working best for bigger carp with fish to 12lb caught in matches and catches to over 80lb+ reported by pleasure anglers. Match nets of F1’s were also caught this week with pole fished pellet at 4 – 8 metres the best tactic. To prove how the diversity of the pool is, the England Youth Trial was held on Saturday on pegs 2 – 20 and nets of bream, crucians and roach to 70lb were weighed in and all caught using bloodworm, caster and maggot fished to CIPS rules. Best pegs are 2 – 4, 12, 17 – 19, 29 – 33, 41 – 46 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS The high pressure towards the weekend saw the carp moving well on the surface but difficult to tempt. Shallow waggler or straight lead tactics firing 8mm carp pellets was the best approach tempting fish to 14lb. Mixed nets of skimmers, tench, crucians and the odd carp are coming to pole fished pellet with good catches being made close to the bank or against any feature. Best pegs are 10 – 13, 17, 19, 23, 25 and
29 – 32.
LITTLE GEARYS Pleasure anglers have enjoyed the best action on Little Gearys with good nets of F1’s to 4lb, skimmers and tench coming to either pole and expander pellet or hard pellets fished shallow. The key to the best catches is to feed plenty of pellets with the fished responding better to heavy feeding. Best pegs have been 9 – 11, 17 – 21 and 26 – 30.
GRATUITIES The tench have been providing the best sport with lots of fish in the 2 – 3lb bracket along with some bigger samples topping 6lb, with corn, meat and 8mm pellet working best. Lots of crucians and smaller carp also showing with pole fished expander pellet the best tactic for these.
WILLOW The two hot pegs are 5 and 6 with big nets of carp and F1’s coming to pole fished pellet or meat tight to the reed beds. Around the pool, small expanders or casters are catching mixed nets of F1’s, carp, skimmers and crucians.
CRESCENT This has been in excellent form this week with carp to 10lb and catches of up to 20 fish averaging around the 5lb mark. Corn or pellet fished close in has been working best also accounting for some quality tench to 5lb.
SIBLINGS Anglers reported good bags of tench, skimmers and crucians with float fished corn, pellet and caster. The top end on the reed beds has been the most productive area but fish are being caught all around the pool.

REPORT
MOLANDS Match weights to over 60lb and pleasure anglers exceeding that with the evening session proving best. The main tactics have been pole fished pellet either short at 3 – 4 metres or at 9 – 11 metres for mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench, skimmers and crucians. A small method with ground bait or micro pellet is the best tactic for carp with banded hard pellet, meat or dead red maggot on the hook. Best pegs are 2 – 4, 17 – 19, 25 – 37, 40 – 46 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS Although weights have not been massive, Gearys is fishing well on a lot of pegs with carp now showing around the pool and some quality fish to 16lb have been caught this week. Straight lead and 8mm pellet is accounting for fish to double figures and the method feeder with pellet or meat is also worth a go at the moment. Bream, skimmers, tench and crucians are coming to pole fished expander pellet or paste. Best pegs are 7, 9, 12, 17, 23, 24, 30 – 32 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Paste or pellet fished down the near margin has been the most prolific tactic this week with pleasure anglers reporting big catches estimated to 80lb. The far side from pegs 7 – 13 has been in best form but decent nets are being caught on all areas.
GRATUITIES The warm weather has seen the bigger carp on top and taking floating baits such as bread or dog biscuit with fish to 8lb falling to this. Plenty of tench, crucians and small carp are still coming to the pellet, pole fished at 8 – 10 metres or a small feeder up to the island. Best pegs are 1- 3 and 11 – 15.
WILLOW This pool is very popular with both adults and children enjoying good sport from small fish, skimmers, roach, F1’s, hybrids and carp to 3lb ensuring plenty of bites. Caster, maggot or small expanders have all been working well, float fished close in down the margin or out between 8 and 10 metres.
ANNIVERSARIES There has been good sport for silver fish and tench with plenty of roach and skimmers coming to the pellet, caster and maggot. Corn is working best for tench to 4lb and the best areas for these is the top bay on pegs 1 – 5.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 4/4/10
Last week there were 103 rods caught 366 fish for an average of 3.55.
The cold week saw less anglers but the fishing has been very good with plenty of quality fish coming out.
The best fish of the week was a 9lb rainbow caught by Andrew Moulder of Dorridge and this fell to a black Tadpole. Andrew also returned an estimated 7lb fish which came to a claret Buzzer. Dave Robinson of Solihull had a 7lb 8oz rainbow in a four fish catch from the Great Pool and these fell to a Wag Tailed Damsel fished on an intermediate line. John Dyer and Kevin Brookes of Tamworth shared a boat on Cocks Close and both took five fish limits including fish to 5lb and then returned eight fish between them. These all came to black or white Lures on intermediate lines. Roy Stroud of Knowle fished catch and release from the bank of Cocks Close and caught eight fish to 5lb on small black Nymphs on a floating line.
Cocks Close is fishing well from both the boats and bank with the best tip being to follow the wind and fish into it. The high bank and the old boat jetty corner have been the best areas but fish are moving all around the pool. On the Great Pool and the Hall Pool, the dam wall areas are best and Park Meadow is best on the far side from the boat jetty.
Best patterns are black Tadpole, Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, Montana Nymphs, pearly P T Nymph, black Spiders, black Gnat, olive or black Buzzer and Bloodworm.

REPORT
MOLANDS This pool is in superb form throughout the week with big nets of F1’s, skimmers and crucians being caught on all areas. With pellet fished at 4 – 8 metres the most effective tactic. Carp are also showing in numbers with the method feeder fished up to the island with banded hard pellet or meat working best for fish to 10lb. Best pegs are 1 – 4, 12 – 19, 37- 45 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS The best method weight of the year so far to come out on Saturday’s Open, 117lb caught by Andy Fulleylove of Dordon who used a small method feeder and meat and fished it tight to the second island on peg 1 to take 20 carp to 12lb. Carp are now being caught all around the pool but the middle stump area on pegs 10 – 13, 17. 18 and 30 – 32 are the areas offering the best chance of bigger catches. Plenty of decent skimmers showing and a few tench and pole fished pellet or corn is working best for mixed nets.
LITTLE GEARYS The carp park bank from pegs 24 – 30 is the best area offering good nets of F1’s, skimmers, carp and tench fishing close in down the margin at 3 – 4 metres with pellet or caster. Match weights to over 60lb and pleasure anglers exceeding that this week.
GRATUITIES Not prolific but most anglers enjoyed a bit of sport from tench, crucians, small carp and the odd bigger carp to 6lb. Long pole, waggler or a small open end feeder have all worked this week and the closer you can fish to the island the better. Expander pellet, banded 6 or 8mm carp pellet and meat have been the best baits.
WILLOW Keeping it simple by fishing pellet or caster at 6 – 10 metres is the best approach with F1’s, small carp, crucians and skimmers all showing well. Best pegs are
1, 5, 6, 9 and 13.
ANNIVERSARIES Quality roach to over 1lb and skimmers provided the main action on Anniversaries with caster the top bait. There are a few tench and crucians also starting to feed with expander pellet or corn picking out the better samples. The best area has been on the lawn and the far bank pegs 12 – 19.

A superb finale on an inform Molands saw the 28 anglers average over 31lb per man and a high finish with the top two, Paul Hunter and Dave Elliott separated by an ounce. League winner Steve White had a match where he could take it easy having won the title on the previous round leaving eight anglers batting for second place. In the end Roger Atkins of Maver Solihull Angling secured second spot courtesy of a section win with 41lb on peg 29.
REPORT
MOLANDS Fishing its head off at the moment with match weight to 80lb and pleasure bags exceeding that. F1’s, carp, skimmers, tench and roach showing all around the pool with pole fished pellet, 4 or 6mm expander fished over ground bait or micro pellets the top tactic. The water has coloured over the past week and good catches are now being made close in down the first shelf. The early pegs from 1 – 8 and scarecrow point from 40 – 48 have been in great form but every peg is capable of giving good sport at the moment.
GEARYS The carp are definitely warming up with fish to over 14lb weighed in during matches and nets to over 50lb reported by pleasure anglers. Straight lead and 8mm hard pellet or pole fished paste down the margins have both accounted for good nets of carp. The skimmers have also been showing well with pole and pellet the top tactics for nets to 40lb. Best pegs are 7, 11 – 13, 16 – 20, 28 and 31 – 33.
LITTLE GEARYS Pole and pellet fished shallow has been the match winning tactic over the weekend with the low numbered pegs from 3 -9 producing the bigger weights. F1’s, carp and skimmer bream are making up the bulk of the catches with a few tench and crucians also starting top have a go.
GRATUITIES A little patchy this week with the far side on pegs 11 – 14 the best area for carp to 5lb and tench to over 4lb. Straight lead and pellet or long pole and expander are the tactics that are working best.
SIBLINGS The tench are beginning to show in better numbers and venue regular Fred Evans of Coleshill fished peg 9 and caught seven around the 4lb mark along with crucians and skimmers on pole fished 6mm expander pellet . Plenty of silver fish are coming to the maggot or caster with the top end around the reedbeds the most consistent area.
WILLOW This pool is very popular with lots of anglers enjoying good sport from roach, skimmers, crucians, F1’s and the odd carp and tench. Float fished pellet is working best fished down the near shelf or against any of the features. Pegs 1, 5, 6 – 8 are the pick of pegs.
ANNIVERSARIES For silver fish sport, Anniversaries has been in excellent form with roach and skimmers showing on most pegs. Caster or expander pellet fished out to the islands has been the best tactic. A few tench also on the early numbered pegs has been the best area for these with corn, pellet and red maggot accounting for fish to 4lb.

SENSAS CHALLENGE FINAL
This event attracted some of the top teams in the country with 24 teams of five competing on Gearys, Molands, Anniversaries, Little Gearys and Willow. All the pools fished well throughout both days averaging around 10lb per angler which made for a fair and very close result. Team winners were Drennan North West who had a two day, 49 points, Kamasan Starlets B finished second with 50.5 points and Maver Barnsley were third on 51.5, seven points separated the top eight teams. Damien Green of ‘Spro’ finished individual champion with four points and weight of 23kg over two days edging out Danny Ashington of Kamasan Starlets who also had four points but 15.750kg in weight. Des ship of Diawa Dorking was third on five points and a 19lb.5 kg weight.
REPORT
MOLANDS The south westerly breeze and much milder weather saw an upturn in sport. The F1’s have settled from pegs 43 – 60 and 1 – 6 and catches to over 60lb were taken in matches on pole and pellet. Along the other areas bream, skimmers and roach have really started to feed well and nets to 40lb of silvers were caught along pegs 10 – 20 with waggler fished maggot on open end feeder and caster or maggot working best on these pegs. The carp are starting to have a go but remain patchy with pegs 1 – 4, 19 – 25 and 58 – 60 giving the best chance of fish up to 10lb and method feeder with dead reds or pellet is working best for them.
GEARYS Nets of skimmers and bream to 30lb is possible from all areas and they have been caught to pole fished pellet or red maggot over ground bait. A lot of anglers practising for the Sensas found that the waggler and red maggot produced better sized bream up to 3lb. Carp are now moving and fish to 7lb in nets to 50lb were reported this week. Pegs 17 – 19 and 27 – 32 have produced the best nets with method and dead red maggot the top tactics.
LITTLE GEARYS Match weights to over 40lb and very consistent back up weights show how fair this pool can be. The wind has been blowing down to the bottom end and pegs 12 – 26 have produced the bigger catches but every peg is capable of good nets of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers and pole fished pellet close in down the edge or out at 11 – 13 metres has worked best.
GRATUITIES The top end of the pool from pegs 1 – 3 and 11 – 16 has been in the best form. Tench to 6lb, carp to 5lb and crucians have made up the catches with pole fished pellet or a small method feeder and pellet/dead maggot both working well. Local rod, Rex Bradley fished peg 16 catching over 40 carp and tench to 3lb on a small expander pellet pole fished at 8 metres.
ANNIVERSARIES Fished very well over the Sensas Challenge weekend with anglers averaging 14lb per man over the two days. Roach to 1lb and skimmers made up the bulk of catches and caster was the best bait fished over ground bait. Best carp reported was a 14lb common taken from the point at the top end on ledger meat along with a few smaller samples to 8lb.
WILLOW Pegs 5 and 6 remain the hot pegs producing carp to 7lb and lots of smaller carp in the 2 – 3lb range, F1’s and skimmers with pole fished pellet working best. Around the pool good nets of skimmers and roach are coming to caster or maggot with the odd tench and crucians providing the odd bonus fish.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 21/2/10
Last week there were 78 rods caught 173 fish for an average of 2.22.
It has been another week that has been badly affected by the weather, with Cocks Close being half frozen for most of the week. Anglers are still enjoying decent sport though and again there were some cracking fish caught this week.
The biggest rainbow taken was a 14lb 4oz caught by *Richy Barton of Nuneaton who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he took it on a Cats Whisker pattern that was own tied. Ade Cooper of Maxstoke had a 7lb 2oz blue trout in a four fish catch from the bank of Cocks Close and this one fell to a Damsel variant fished on an intermediate line. Steve Gowan of Knowle fished Buzzers under an indicator and took a five fish limit with the best at 6lb 12oz and released a further four whilst fishing the bank of Cocks Close.
Barry Smith of Coventry took a 7lb 8oz rainbow in a three fish catch from a boat on the Great Pool and these all came to a black Fritz. On Park Meadow pool, Sam Aspen of Tamworth caught four including a 7lb rainbow and these all fell to a Cats Whisker Lure.
The best areas have been the high bank and the wires bank on Cocks Close and the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty is the hotspot on Great Pool.
Best patterns are Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, Fritz Lures, Bloodworm, black Buzzer and Damsel Nymph.

BILLY HAWKES WITH HIS 26lb MATCH WINNING CATCH FROM PEG 13 ON LITTLE GEARYS DURING THE STARLETS VETERANS WINTER LEAGUE MATCH.
REPORT
MOLANDS The new F1’s have been showing well on a few pegs with 35 – 37 and 46 – 54 the main areas. The best approach has been pole fished pellet at 10 – 13 metres feeding micro and fishing a 4mm expander or red maggot on the hook. Pleasure anglers have caught over 40lb with the fish averaging around the 8oz mark. Around the pool skimmers, roach and the odd carp or tench have been showing on the pole.
GEARYS Improving with plenty of skimmers and roach showing to long pole with pellet, caster or maggot in nets to over 20lb. A few carp have been caught with pegs 17 and 18 or 31 – 33 the best pegs for fish to 7lb on a small method with dead red maggot on the hook.
LITTLE GEARYS The top pool this week with pleasure nets to over 40lb reported. Pole fished expander pellet has been the top tactic but plenty of fish are coming to the feeder too. F1’s and carp to 4lb, skimmers and crucians have provided the main action with pegs 7 – 13 and 23 – 27 best.
GRATUITIES The milder weather saw an upturn in sport on Gratuities with tench to 4lb showing well along with small carp and crucians. The best tactic has been to fish a small ground bait feeder with red maggot, corn or hard pellet on the hook. The pole also saw some decent catches with expander pellet fished over micros working well.
ANNIVERSARIES The lawn area and the top bay have been the best areas with skimmers, roach and the odd tench coming to float fished pellet or caster.
WILLOW A bit more difficult this week with double figures a good bag at the moment. The water has gone a little clear and the fish are tending to back off so lighter tactics have been the best approach. Caster, pinkies and red maggot are all producing roach and small skimmers from most pegs.

REPORT
MOLANDS With water temperatures still very low the fishing on Molands has been a little patchy. The recently stocked F1 carp are ready to shoal on a few pegs and if you are on them you can have a cracking day. Pole fished expander pellet is the best tactic for the F1’s. Another tactic that is catching remarkably well is the waggler with maggot or caster and this is producing skimmers and roach in good numbers.
GEARYS Bream to 2lb and roach have been providing the best sport although the fishing is generally pretty hard at the moment. Red maggot, pinkies and chopped worm and caster are best, fished on a small feeder or long pole. The high bank from pegs
6 – 12 has been the most consistent area.
LITTLE GEARYS Considering the conditions this pool has been in excellent form and the anglers fishing the open on Sunday proved how good it was by breaking the ice to fish and over 40lb was needed to win. The top tactic at the moment is expander pellet fished over micros for F1’s, carp and skimmers on the pole at 11 – 13 metres. Most pegs are producing decent nets but pegs 10 – 14 and 26 – 28 are the hotspots at the moment.
GRATUITIES The carp are shoaled tight to the island and the best tactic has been to fish a small ground bait feeder with red maggot, double pinkies or a small beaded hard pellet on the hook. Carp to 5lb has been featured but fish in the 1 – 2lb bracket are feeding best. Best pegs are 3 – 6 and 15 – 16.
SIBLINGS It has been quiet on Siblings this week but the few anglers that have fished it have caught some quality roach to 1lb with the reed bed area the best at the moment.
WILLOW Roach and skimmers are coming to maggot, caster or pellet on most pegs but 5 and 6 are providing the best chance of carp with pellet fished up to the reed beds.

REPORT
GEARYS Carp are still coming out with pegs 18, 31, 32 and 36 producing the better catches with a method feeder and dead maggot or punched bread on a straight lead producing fish to 16lb this week. Bream to 3lb and skimmers are coming to pole or waggler with caster, red maggot or small expanders working best. Pegs 7 – 12, 17, 31 and 36 are the top pegs for silvers.
MOLANDS The night frosts have continued to make Molands very patchy at the moment. The best tactics have been a small open- end feeder and red maggot fished across to the far shelf for skimmers, roach and F1’s with the waggler also worth a try. Double figure weights have been good weights in matches with 20lb needed to win. Best pegs are 2 – 6, 17, 27 – 31, 46 and 52 – 59.
LITTLE GEARYS Pleasure anglers fishing during the week enjoyed good sport with nets of F1’s and carp to over 30lb. Sport dipped due to the frosts at the weekend but Steve Daley enjoyed a superb match in the Ridgemere AC match on Saturday. Steve fished casters shallow at 11 metres taking carp and F1’s to 4lb for a near 50lb total. Best pegs are 11, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 29.
GRATUITIES Still the pick of the pools with nets of carp in the 1 – 3lb bracket coming to pleasure anglers with bags to over 40lb reported this week. The best tactic is a small ground bait feeder fished out to the island with red maggot, punch or small pellet on the hook. Best pegs are 1 – 4, 9, 15 and 16.
WILLOW Always a good bet in the winter, Willow has produced plenty of skimmers, roach and small carp around the pool. The best pegs for bigger carp have been 5 and 6 on the reed beds with fish to 5lb coming to pellet or maggot fished tight against the reeds.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 6/12/09
Last week 84 rods caught 227 fish for an average of 2.70
The wet and windy weather continued this week and sport was affected but most anglers enjoyed some success.
The best rainbow of the week was 11lb5oz and was caught by Atherstone angler Matthew Bird who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. He also caught one at 8lbs 4oz and they both fell to a bloodworm pattern fished on a sight bob.G W Cooper of Sutton coldfield had an 8lb rainbow on a black lure from the park meadow pool.
Top flies are cats whisker, bloodworm, black tadpole, damsel nymph, minkies, black or olive buzzer and Montana.
The high bank and old boat jetty area remains the hotspot on Cocks Close On the members’ waters, Great Pool has improved over the past week and the best sport is to be found on the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty.

REPORT
It has been a lot harder on all of the pools this week with the wet and windy weather and lower temperatures making sport tough.
On Molands small carp and F1’s have provided the last chance of action with long pole and caster or pellet working best, pegs 2, 3, 10, 17, 26, 41, 46, 54 and 58 have been the best this week. Gearys is the best bet for a chance of bigger carp with fish to double figures being caught and a method feeder fished out to the middle stumps is the top tactic. Skimmers and roach are also showing to pole fished caster or pellet. Pegs 10 – 15, 17, 30 – 32 and 36 are the most consistent at the moment. Little Gearys is fishing better on the far side with pegs 7 – 13 providing mixed nets of small F1’s, skimmers and roach on caster, pellet or red maggot. Pegs 14 – 16 are still giving the best chance of sport on Gratuities with carp to 4lb and even a few tench around the 2 – 3lb mark still showing.
A small ground bait feeder with red maggot is the top tactic. Crescent pool has probably been the best pool this week with nets of roach, crucians, skimmers and the odd carp and tench coming to float fished caster or maggot. Willow is a good bet for bites with roach and skimmers on the maggot or small expander pellet.
RESTOCKING
A further 3000 F1’s will be stocked into Molands and 1000 in Little Gearys this week.

REPORT
MOLANDS The wet and windy weather saw a drop in the number of anglers but the fishing improved as the week went on. The best area has been the top end of the pool with pegs 1 – 4 and 56 – 60 producing good nets of carp in the 1 – 5lb bracket. The method feeder fished up to the island or long pole with pellet have been the best approaches. Elsewhere skimmers, roach, F1’s and carp are being caught but sport can be quite patchy.
GEARYS The best catches have been made up mostly of skimmers with the odd carp included. Pellet, caster or maggot fished over ground bait has been the best tactic with a with an open end feeder also worth a go. Best pegs are 12 – 15, 16, 31, 32 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Most pegs are good for 20lb+ at the moment with F1’s, skimmers and roach providing plenty of bites to pellet, caster, red maggot and pinkies. Best pegs are 3, 9, 10, 12, 19, 27 and 28.
GRATUITIES Carp to 5lb showing at the far end with pegs 1 and 2 and 13 and 14 producing decent sport on the waggler with punched bread or corn the best tactic.
ANNIVERSARIES Anniversaries has been popular this week because this pool is sheltered against the strong winds. Float fished pellet, corn, maggot or caster have all caught plenty of fish with skimmers, roach, crucians and carp being caught.
WILLOW Roach, skimmers and crucians making up catches at the moment with float fished caster and maggot going best. Best pegs for carp have been 5 and 6 fished next to the reed bed with pellet or corn on the hook with the fish around the 3 – 5lb mark.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 21/6/09
Last week 123 rods caught 231 fish for an average of 1.88 per rod.
The very changeable conditions made for more difficult fishing during the last week. Plenty of fish moving on or near the surface on the more overcast days and there have been some tremendous rises in the evenings.
The best fish of the week was a 6lb 2oz rainbow caught by Alex Kerr of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Alex caught five fish and released a further six and they were all taken on Bloodworm and Gold Ribbed Hares Ear. Ben Foo-Collyer of Solihull fished catch and release from a boat on Cocks Close and tempted 11 fish to 4lb and these all came to dry Mayfly. Bill Dunne of Birmingham fished from a boat on the Great Pool and caught five and released a further two fish, with the best just over 4lb and these all came to a Gold Head Damsel Nymph. Mr A Miles fished from a boat on Park Meadow and caught five fish on Daddy Long Legs and dry Hoppers
The high bank and far corner of Cocks Close, the deeper water at the dam ends of Great Pool and Hall Pool and the middle of Park Meadow have been the best areas.
Top flies are Damsel Nymph, CDC Emergers, black or olive Buzzers, big dries, Daddy Long Legs and Bloodworm patterns.
The fishery has introduced a late evening ticket for £10.00 for two fish available from 6pm and this so far has proved popular with anglers who have enjoyed good sport during the evening rise.

MOLANDS Molands has been a little hard over the past week with nets between 30 and 40lb winning matches. The carp are only showing on a few pegs with 8 – 14, 31 – 39, 43 – 48 and 53 – 56 the most productive. Fred Evans of Coleshill fished peg 55 and caught 15 fish between 4lb and 7lb on straight lead and pellet. If you fish for mixed nets with small expander pellet, caster or corn you can catch 30lb+ of skimmers, tench, F1’s and crucians from most pegs.
GEARYS Sport has been good on Gearys over the past week with match weights to over 70lb and bigger bags taken by pleasure anglers. The top tactics have been pole and paste or pellet method with meat or dead maggot on the hook. Carp have been showing all around the pool but the bigger skimmers are being caught around the high bank with pegs 10 – 15 the best area for them.
LITTLE GEARYS Probably the best pool at the moment with decent nets being caught from all around the pool. Various methods are working with shallow pole and pellet, feeder or waggler to the island and short pole fished down the margins all producing well. F1’s to 6lb, carp and tench to 5lb and skimmers to 3lb have all featured in catches this week.
WILLOW There have been good nets of carp in the 4 – 6lb range, tench to 4lb, skimmers, roach and crucians being caught. Float fished caster maggot or expander pellet is the best tactic with pegs 1, 3, 5 – 7 and 11 all fishing well.
GRATUITIES Improving all the time with the tench featuring in catches predominately and these are running from 1lb to 6lb. Small carp, crucians and skimmers also showing to pole fished pellet, corn, meat and caster. Best pegs are 3 – 8, 10, 14 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES Tench have again been the best target with fish in the 2 – 4lb range coming out in numbers. Float fished meat or corn over a bed of micro pellet has been the best approach and this also accounted for decent nets of skimmers, crucians and the odd carp. The far end on the early pegs 1 – 6 and pegs17 – 19 have been the best areas.

REPORT
MOLANDS Fished well through the week but the heavy rain and strong winds certainly made it hard at the weekend. In the week good nets were taken on caster or pellet fished down the near shelf with tench, bream and skimmers particularly responding well to this tactic. The carp showed better to a pellet method or cage feeder with pellet and meat on the hook fished tight across to the island. Catches to over 60lb taken in the week but sport slowed on Saturday with 30lb plus needed to frame. Best pegs 2, 13, 23, 45, 48 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS The pick of the pools at the moment with plenty of catches exceeding 50lb and pleasure anglers exceeding that. Carp to 17lb and plenty of double figure fish coming out at the moment and they are well spread round the pool. The best tactic for carp is pellet method/method feeder with hard pellet on the hook. The bream and skimmers fed better this week with 40lb catches coming to pole fished pellet, the odd tench to 5lb, also coming to the same tactic. Best pegs 9 – 12, 17 – 19, 27, 31 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS In good form this week with good mixed nets of F1’s, small carp, tench and skimmers. Pole fished pellet has been the most consistent tactic, either fished short down the near shelf or long at 11 – 13 metres. As the weather warms up expect the F1’s, in particular, to come shallow, fishing about one foot down with hard pellet the best approach. Best pegs are 1, 3, 8, 12 – 14, 19, 21, 24 and 29.
SIBLINGS The tench are still showing on certain pegs and in good numbers with fish to 6lb caught this week. Pellet, meat or double corn fished over a bed of ground bait or pellets is working best and if you can’t get the tench going, there are lots of quality skimmers and roach to provide some action. The best peg for carp is 16 and fish around the 3 – 6lb range are being caught from under the overhanging bush with meat working best.
GRATUITIES Pleasure anglers are enjoying more success with tench and crucians providing the best sport. Small 4mm expanders fished over micro pellets is the best tactic and you need to fish tight to the near bank features for the better quality fish. Best pegs 1, 8, 9, 10, 15 and 16.
WILLOW Very popular this week with tench and carp coming to float fished corn or meat with pegs 1, 5 and 6 and 13 the pick of the pegs. Small expanders or caster will give you a bite a chuck from skimmers, roach, crucians and the occasional tench and carp.

REPORT
MOLANDS The fishing was a little harder last week with the very strong winds providing difficult conditions. Catches to 50lb were taken in matches and pleasure anglers enjoyed the best sport, particularly if they fished the evening sessions where the tench were most active. The top tactics have been either the pellet method with pellet or meat on the hook and the ground bait feeder with chopped worm and caster. Carp to 12lb, tench to 6lb, bream to 5lb featured in catches with skimmers, F1’s, crucians and roach also showing. Best areas have been 1 – 4, 8 – 11, 29 – 33, 43 – 48 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS The shallow water from pegs 20 – 29 has been the best area producing lots of carp from 4 – 5lb and match catches to over 60lb. The silver fish are spawning at the moment and are not showing as well as previous weeks. The best tactics have been pole fished pellet, paste or meat fished close into the near margin or method feeder with pellet or meat on the hook.
LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool over the past week with fish being caught all around the pool. F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers providing the main action with catches to over 50lb in matches and pleasure anglers exceeding that. Like most pools the evening sessions are best with the fish moving close into the near margin and short pole with meat or pellet seeing a lot of fish caught. Best pegs have been 3, 7, 8, 11, 14, 21, 25 and 27.
SIBLINGS This pleasure fishing only pool has really started to fish well over the past week. Sheltered from the winds it has been popular and anglers have enjoyed good sport with tench to 5lb, bream to 4lb, roach, rudd, crucians and the odd carp. The biggest fish so far this year was caught last week, a 23lb mirror caught on floating bread by Daniel Causer of Kitts Green.

REPORT
MOLANDS Sport through the week has generally been very good with some decent mixed nets coming to pole fished pellet at 8 – 12 metres. Bream to 3lb, crucians to over 2lb, tench to 4lb and small F1’s have featured in catches to over 50lb. Pleasure anglers fishing into the evening have enjoyed the best tench sport with catches of up to 20 fish, up to 6lb being taken from close into the margins with corn, meat on the hook. The carp are still showing best around Scarecrow Point from pegs 43 – 49 with fish to over 10lb coming to straight lead and pellet on method feeder tactics.
GEARYS The fishing has improved again this week and Gearys has been very popular with day ticket anglers who have enjoyed some excellent sport this week with carp in particular showing well. The warm evenings have seen lots of fish on the top and candle and pellet or dog biscuit fished on the surface has seen some big catches with up to 40 fish to 8lb being caught in a single session.
LITTLE GEARYS The match weights may not be enormous but the number of fish being caught has been very good with nets of F1 hybrids, skimmers, carp, tench and crucian carp to over 50lb caught last week. The main tactic has been to fish short with pellet or corn down the near bank margins, but you need to fish close to the reedbeds for best success. A small method feeder fished to the islands is also productive with pellet or meat working best on the hook. Best pegs 9 – 14, 17 – 21 and 25 – 30.
WILLOW Pegs 1 – 5 have been in good form with carp, tench, skimmers and crucian carp all responding well to expander pellet or corn fished close into the near bank features. Maggot or caster fished long on the pole will give a bite a chuck from small skimmers, roach to 12oz and crucian carp.
SIBLINGS Evening sessions best with tench to 5lb coming to float fished corn or meat fished over a bed of ground bait or pellet. During the day, decent mixed nets of bream, crucians, roach and the odd tench are being caught on pellet or caster with pegs 1, 2, 11, 12, 17, 19 – 20 all fishing well.
CRESCENT This small 11 peg pool has been in excellent form over the past week with lots of carp in the 3 – 6lb range. Tench to 5lb, crucians, skimmers and roach all providing great sport. Float fished pellet or corn has been the best approach fished tight up to the lily beds.

REPORT
MOLANDS The early pegs from 2 – 12 have been in good form particularly on the pole with bream, skimmers, F1’s crucians and tench showing well to 4 or 6mm pellet. The fish are moving close in to the near margin with 4 or 5 metres a good line to fish at the moment. The carp are still shoaling around the Scarecrow Point and pleasure catches to over 100lb have been taken from pegs 45 – 48 with samples into double figures featuring in nets. A small pellet feeder or method fished tight to the island is the best tactic for carp.
GEARYS The middle stump area is producing some excellent nets of carp in the 3 – 8lb range and big skimmers averaging 2lb. Pellet feeder or ground bait method feeder is working well with hard 8mm pellet or meat on the hook. The shallow water at the top end from pegs 21 – 24 is also starting to fish well with pole fished pellet and this is netting carp, brown gold fish, tench and crucians.
LITTLE GEARYS Pleasure anglers have found the inside margin is producing the best sport, fishing a small pellet or corn down the edge. Carp to 4lb, F1’s and crucians are going well to this tactic. On the matches, fishing up to the island with pole at 10 – 12 metres or small feeder is successful for the bigger F1’s, skimmers, carp and tench. The best pegs have been 3 – 5, 9 – 14 and 25 – 30.
ANNIVERSARIES Still in good form with some excellent silver fish bags being caught on pole and expander pellet or caster. Bream to 3lb, roach, rudd, tench and chub have been making up the bulk of the catches. The lawn area is again the hotspot with pegs
13 – 16 fishing well.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
SIBLINGS Busiest week on Siblings for a long time and most anglers were rewarded with some decent sport. Tench to 4lb have provided the best action with the reed beds at the top end of the pool fishing well on pegs 19 – 24, with corn, meat and 6 or 8mm expander pellets all catching a few. Plenty of bream, roach, rudd and crucians also being caught on the other areas with float fished maggot, worm or caster good for bites.
WILLOW Every peg producing fish with carp and tench showing on pegs 1, 5, 6 and 13 and the other pegs good for crucians, roach, skimmers and the odd tench and carp with pellet, caster or maggot working well.

PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
REPORT
MOLANDS The increase in water temperature has seen an upturn in sport with match catches to nearly 100lb caught. The variety of fishing is superb with lots of methods being used, pole, waggler, open-end feeder or method feeder have all accounted for good nets with pellet or meat the outstanding baits this week. Carp to 10lb, tench to 6lb, bream to 4lb, F1’s, skimmers and crucian carp have all shown well. The best areas have been from pegs 2 – 8, 21- 25, 33 – 37, 44 – 48 and 58 – 60.
GEARYS The first ton of the year was caught on Saturday’s Open by Maver’s Craig O’Brien who fished a method feeder out to the middle stumps and caught 17 carp to 8lb along with a few skimmers with pellet/meat and dead maggot all catching a few fish for him. Generally with the warmer conditions over the last week, sport has improved with carp showing on most pegs along with skimmers, brown goldfish and a few tench. Pole and pellet or method feeder have been the best tactics and the pick of the pegs have been 10 – 14, 17, 18, 23, 27, 31 -33 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Fishing well with good mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers being caught all around the pool. The fish are coming a lot closer in and corn or pellet fished down the near margin is one of the best tactics at the moment with shallow pole and pellet also scoring well. Most popular pegs are 1, 3, 9 – 12, 19 – 21 and 25 – 29.
GRATUITIES Still a little patchy with the water being quite clear. The best tactics have been to fish a waggler on long pole with pellet or maggot and this has caught tench to 4lb, small crucians and roach. Pegs 1, 2, 14 and 16 have been the best pegs.
ANNIVERSARIES Excellent silver fish sport with bream, skimmers, roach, rudd, tench and a few chub showing. Float fished caster, expander pellet or maggot have been working well with mixed nets to 40lb being caught. Every peg on Anniversaries has a feature such as a small island or overhanging bush and fishing up to these will give the best results. Pegs 1 – 5 on the point at the top end and the lawn area from 12 – 16 have been the best areas.
WILLOW There has been good consistent sport as usual from the Willow Pool with plenty of small carp, tench, skimmers, crucians and roach providing the action. Float fished expander pellet, caster or maggot will give lots of bites with corn or meat as a change bait for the bigger specimens. Top pegs 1, 5, 6, 9 and 13.

REPORT
MOLANDS The cooler and very windy conditions made for harder fishing with the fish tending to shoal in certain area with pegs 1 – 4, 25 – 31, 43 – 48 and 55 – 60 the best areas at the moment. Carp to 8lb, tench to 6lb and bream to 6lb all featured in catches this week. The top tactics have been pole and pellet fished long at 12 – 14½ metres or a small cage feeder with hard pellet or meat on the hook.
GEARYS The method feeder and dead maggot fished out to the middle stumps has been the best tactic for carp on Gearys with fish to double figures in catches to over 60lb. Pole fished pellet or caster and worm has been working well for mixed nets with bream and tench to 3lb and plenty of skimmers, roach, crucians and brown goldfish also featuring. Best pegs are 10 – 15, 17 – 21 and 27 – 32.
LITTLE GEARYS A little quieter this week with catches to 30lb of small F1’s, carp to
1 ½lb and skimmers are coming to pole fished pellet or maggot. Lots of smaller fish showing providing good sport, but weights were lower this week although every peg is providing some action.
GRATUITIES Still quite clear meaning that you need to fish out to the island with either waggler or small feeder for best results. Tench and small carp providing the best sport with corn, pellet and dead maggot the top baits. Best pegs are 1, 2, 9, 14, 15 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES Sheltered from the wind a lot of anglers headed to Anniversaries last week and were rewarded with some excellent silver fish sport. Lots of bream around the 2lb mark, roach to over 1lb, skimmers, rudd and the odd tench to 4lb were caught. Pole fished pellet or chopped worm and caster was the best tactic with pegs at the top end from 1 – 5 or on the lawn area at 13 16 in great form.
SIBLINGS This is another pool in good form with tench in the 2 – 4lb bracket providing the best of the action. Bream, skimmers, roach and a few carp also being caught with corn, pellet or caster being the top baits.
WILLOW Popular pool this week with small carp, tench, skimmers and roach showing all around the pool with pole fished pellet or caster the top tactic.

REPORT
MOLANDS A lot of anglers practicing through the week for the Sensas match at the weekend and they caught well on pole fished caster, maggot and with 40lb nets of skimmers, roach, crucians, tench and F1 carp. Anglers after carp, found that a small open end feeder with pellets was the best tactic. Derek Hartshorne of Coventry used this on peg 48 to tempt 15 carp between 4 and 8lb with four tench and a couple of big bream also liking the pellets. All areas are producing fish but the hotspots have been pegs 2 – 5, 25 – 29, 37 – 48 and 53 – 56.
GEARYS Sport has been very consistent all around Gearys with no huge weights but 20 – 40lb possible from any pegs. Pole fished pellet, caster or worm has been the favoured method with bream to 3lb, tench, brown goldfish and the odd carp responding to this. The warmer weather saw carp moving on the surface and a few were even caught on floating baits such as dog biscuit or bread with the shallow water at the top end of the pool producing fish to 14lb on this.
LITTLE GEARYS Pleasure anglers reported catches to over 50lb earlier in the week with the early pegs from pegs 1 – 7 producing the better catches. Pole and pellet fished shallow has been the best tactic catching F1’s and carp to the 5lb mark. The skimmers, crucians, roach and tench are coming to the caster fished down the margin with the fish responding to heavy feeding with the pegs along the far side from 9 – 15 producing the best mixed bags.
ANNIVERSARIES In great form for skimmers this week with nets to 30lb being caught from around the lawn area on pegs 12 – 16. Pole fished pellet or corn have been working well fished over pellets of fish meal ground bait. Lots of silver fish showing around the pool and maggot or caster usually produces lots of bites from roach, skimmers, rudd, crucians and a few tench to 5lb.
SIBLINGS Busiest the pool has been this year with most anglers enjoying good sport with tench and skimmers predominately making up the catches. A fishery regular had a 16lb mirror carp from peg 3 using a big expander pellet fished on the pole and this fish gave him the run around for about 15 minutes before being netted.
WILLOW Fished well with carp to 4lb, tench and skimmers showing well all around the pool. Corn or pellet fished up to any of the features such as reed beds or overhanging trees has been working best.

REPORT
MOLANDS Although catches have not been enormous, the fish have been well spread around the pool with catches to 40lb being taken from lots of pegs. F1’s to 1lb, bream to 5lb and tench to 5lb have been the main targets with pole and pellet the most consistent approach. Straight lead with meat, corn or 8mm hard pellet is the best tactic for carp with fish to 8lb showing in catches to over 30lb. Best pegs 10, 17 – 19, 25 – 31, 44 – 43 and 52 – 55.
GEARYS Pleasure anglers have enjoyed better sport this week with mixed nets to over 50lb caught. Pole fished pellet or meat has produced the best results with pegs 27 – 32 fishing the best. Carp to 6lb, bream to 3lb, crucians, brown goldfish and tench have all figured in catches.
LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool this week with F1’s, carp and skimmers providing the best of the action. The milder weather has seen the shallow pole and pellet approach starting to work with F1’s to 5lb coming well to this method. Method feeder fished tight o the island with meat or pellet on the hook is also working well. Best pegs
1 – 3, 10 – 15, 21, 29 and 30.
GRATUTIES A small method or open-end feeder fished up to the island is working well with carp and tench showing well to meat/pellet or corn. The pole is producing smaller carp and crucians at 12 – 14 metres with small expander pellets working best. Top pegs 1, 8, 9, 11, 15 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES On Anniversaries, the better catches have come off the pegs on the far side with the lawn area and the last pegs down from 14 – 19 producing the better catches. Tench, bream, skimmers and roach on caster, pellet or maggot in catches to 30lb have been taken this week.
WILLOW This pool is very popular with pleasure anglers with most anglers enjoying good sport. Small expanders, caster and maggot give plenty of bites with carp, tench, roach and skimmers providing good sport. Pegs 5 and 6 the best pegs for carp catches with the reed beds the hotspot and corn or pellet fished tight into the reeds is providing carp to 5lb.
SIBLINGS Anglers are starting to fish the Siblings pool and are being rewarded with some good sport with tench to 4lb providing the main action backed up by skimmers, roach and crucians carp. Float fished corn or pellet is working best with pegs 2, 13, 17, 19 and 20 fishing well.

MOLANDS Molands is the top pool at the moment with catches to over 70lb caught in matches and reported by pleasure anglers. Carp are responding well to either the method feeder or a pellet feeder fished across to the island with fish to double figures coming to pellet, meat or corn. The pole has gone well with mixed nets of carp, F1’s, crucians, tench and plenty of skimmers with 4mm expander pellet fished over micros or 3mm pellet with consistent feeding required. Molands is fishing well all around the pool with pegs 2, 8, 10, 14, 25, 44 – 46 and 54 – 60 the hotspots.
GEARYS The midweek frost affected sport with catches to 30lb the best reported. Carp to 14lb have been caught with pellet feeder and meat the best tactic for carp. Pole fished pellet or caster is the best approach for skimmers and the odd tench and carp. Best pegs were 7, 10 – 12, 15 – 17 and 30 – 32.
LITTLE GEARYS Fished a little harder through the week but fish were still being caught all around the pool with F1’s and bream providing the best of the action. Pole fished pellet, caster or maggot at 8 – 10 metres was the best tactic with nets to 30lb. Best pegs 7 – 13, 21 and 26 – 29.
GRATUTIES The far side was the best with pegs 12 – 15 providing good sport on a small feeder fished tight up to the island. Tench, crucians and small carp in pleasure nets to 40lb were caught last week.
ANNIVERSARIES The silver fish sport has been good last week with plenty of skimmers to 2lb, roach to 1lb, tench and even the odd chub coming out. Float fished pellet or caster has been the best tactic, fished close up to the island on the pole. Best pegs 4, 5, 10, 14, 15 and 19.
WILLOW Fishing well for mixed nets of carp, tench, roach and skimmers with float fished pellet or caster working well.
SIBLINGS Tench and skimmers offered the best sport through the week with pellet and corn the best baits. The top area has been along the back bank in the deeper water.

MOLANDS Catches have improved this week with carp, skimmers, F1’s and tench showing all around the pool. The Starlets Vets Silver Fish match on Tuesday was remarkable in the fact that most anglers had to put large numbers of carp, F1’s and crucians back with a couple returning over 40lb. Even so, most anglers had double figures and over 25lb was the winning weight, fishing pole fished pellet or caster which dominated the match. Pleasure anglers have enjoyed good sport with one angler reporting a 60lb haul of tench, bream and carp from peg 25 with most of the fish coming to pole fished pellet but he had some better carp on the feeder and pellet across to the island. Best pegs 4 – 8, 17 – 25, 41 – 46 and 55 – 60.
GEARYS Carp are featuring all around the pool with catches to over 50lb taken by pleasure anglers. Ray Hassan of Birmingham fished peg 17 and caught 12 fish to 7lb on an open end feeder with pellet or corn on the hook and this has been the best approach for carp on most pegs. The pole and pellet is starting to produce some decent catches with nets of skimmers and the odd carp and tench being taken also on it. Best pegs are 10 – 13 and 27 – 32.
LITTLE GEARYS In good form this week with most pegs producing good nets of F1’s, carp, skimmers, roach and a few tench. The best tactics have been to fish the pole at 8 – 10 metres on a small feeder across to the island with pellet, corn or meat the top baits. Fishery member, Jim Green of Birmingham had an estimated 50lb net of F1’s including samples to over 4lb on pole fished 4mm expander pellet on peg 30.
GRATUTIES The early pegs along the roadside bank have been in the best form producing mainly tench to 4lb and small carp in the ½lb – 1lb range. A small feeder fished across to the island with pellet or caster has been the top tactic but the water has a bit more colour and the pole has started to catch again.
ANNIVERSARIES Still fishing well for silvers with bream and tench to 3lb and lots of skimmers, roach and rudd with pole fished caster, maggot or small expander pellets. Best pegs have been 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 and 19.
RIVER BLYTHE The settled conditions have seen the river in good form particularly for the bigger chub with specimens to 5lb caught this week with ledger/ breadflake the best tactic.

MOLANDS The milder weather improved sport through the week with some excellent catches being made by pleasure anglers. Brian Sheldon of Birmingham fished the method feeder on peg 29 and caught 13 between 5 and 9lb with meat or corn on the hook. The pole at 10 – 13 metres has started to work well providing mixed nets of carp, F1 hybrids, skimmers and tench with catches exceeding 50lb being taken on expander pellet fished over ground bait. Pegs 1 – 6, 27 – 31, 44 – 46 and 52 – 58 have all been in good form.
GEARYS Carp to double figures featuring in catches with the method feeder or cone producing the better bags of carp. Meat, corn and pellet have been the best baits. The skimmers have been showing better in the shallow water on pegs 21 – 29 with nets to 30lb being taken on pole fished pellet or caster.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
LITTLE GEARYS This pool is in great form for pleasure anglers with F1 hybrids, carp and skimmers providing the best of the action. Fishery regular John Butler of Water Orton had over 60 F1’s between 6oz and 3lb from peg 9 and these all came to the pellet fished on the pole at 11 metres. The bigger stamp of carp with fish to 6lb, are coming to the bomb and corn fished to the island. Best pegs 7, 9, 17, 21, 26 – 30.
GRATUTIES The water is still quite clear so the best approach has been the waggler or small feeder fished just short of the island. Tench to 4lb, carp to 3lb, crucians, roach and skimmers have been showing well to these tactics with the early pegs along the roadside bank in the best form.
ANNIVERSARIES Fished well last week with good mixed nets of skimmers, tench, roach and crucians. Pole fished pellet, caster or maggot will give lots of bites on most pegs but the lawn area around pegs 13 – 15 is the hotspot.
WILLOW The warmer weather has seen the bigger fish starting to have a go with plenty of tench in the 2 – 4lb range caught, also with large number of carp between one and 5lb. Float fished corn or pellet has been the best tactic for bigger fish with caster and small expander working well for plenty of roach, skimmers and crucians.

REPORT
GEARYS Being shallow water, Gearys can suffer more than the other pools with this up and down weather. Carp to 7lb and bigger skimmers in the 1 – 2lb range provided the best chance of sport last week with catches to over 20lb being taken from a few pegs with feeder fished maggot, pellet or corn the best tactic. Pegs 9, 15, 31, 32 and 36 have been the pick of the pegs.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
MOLANDS Another week when sport was affected by ice and very low water temperatures, Molands remains patchy but if you can find the carp, good sport can be had. The best area was around the end of the island on pegs 1 – 3 and 57 – 60 with carp to 8lb being caught on method feeder with corn, meat or pellet on the hook. Around the pool, roach and skimmers were coming to the long pole or waggler with pellet or caster on the hook.
LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool last week with fish being caught all around the pool. Pole fished pellet or maggot is working well for nets of small F1’s and skimmers and the feeder is taking the bigger carp with corn, bread or pellet fished tight up to the island for fish to 6lb. Best pegs are 7 – 13, 21 and 23 – 30.
GRATUITIES The road side was fishing well on pegs 1 – 6 during the early part of the week, with carp to 2lb and roach and crucians providing the action. The successful method, is a small waggler fished down the track, on long pole with long line to the float (as the water is quite clear) with pellet or red maggot the best baits.
WILLOW The bags may not be huge but Willow has again provided decent sport with lots of bites from roach and skimmers on pole fished small pellet, caster or maggot.

PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
GEARYS Fished hard through the week with catches well down. The odd carp and big skimmers have been producing the best chance of sport with method feeder or straight lead fished at long range with bread punch, dead maggot or meat on the hook. 10 – 12 and 30 – 36 have been the pick of the pegs.
MOLANDS Molands froze completely a couple of times this week but produced a couple of big catches and carp are showing around the pool. Ron Savage fished the Veterans silver fish league and spent most the match playing carp to 11lb and landing 14 fish which came to pole fished expander pellet from peg 21. Susie Smith caught 134lb of carp in the Winter League which was a net of 27 fish, all caught on a method feeder and pepperami hook bait. The skimmers have been hard to find but roach to 1lb have been coming to caster which has also accounted for the odd tench to 4lb.
LITTLE GEARYS Fishing well with the new F1 carp providing good sport on pole fished pellet or caster. A further stocking of carp in the 1 – 5lb range boosted sport with these new fish coming to feeder and pellet or bread punch fished across to the island. Generally fishing well around the pool but the pegs on the far side have been in top form with 10 – 15 the best.
GRATUITIES A little patchy still but some decent catches caught last week. Nets of
carp in the 8oz – 1½lb range, crucians and roach have been caught with long pole and pellet or maggot fishing best. Top pegs 1, 2, 10, 14 and 16.
ANNIVERSARIES The lawn area on pegs 14 – 16 has been fishing well for skimmers with catches to over 20lb being taken on pole fished pellet or caster over ground bait. Around the pool, roach can be caught on every peg on the caster.
WILLOW Caster or maggot fished on long pole or waggler is providing lots of roach and skimmers. Carp to 4lb are being caught on pegs 5 and 6 fishing up to the reed beds with corn or pellet.

PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
REPORT
GEARYS Gearys improved as the week got milder with carp to 6lb and skimmers to 2lb in nets to 30lb. Method feeder or pellet feeder fished at long range is the best approach with dead maggot, pellet or bread on the hook. Best pegs are 9 – 15 and 31 – 33.
MOLANDS Frozen up until Wednesday of last week and those that fished Molands when it thawed, found roach, skimmers and perch the most receptive. Maggot, caster or pinkie fished on long pole or waggler was the best tactic with the odd bonus tench and carp particularly showing later in the day. Pegs 44 – 56 have been the best pegs.
LITTLE GEARYS Little Gearys is the pick of the pools since the thaw with carp to 5lb, F1s, roach and skimmers showing well. A small method feeder with corn or pellet or long pole and pellet has been the best tactics. Fishing well all the way round the pool but pegs 10 – 15 area is in the best form.
GRATUITIES This pool can be patchy but the pegs from 1 – 3 and 15 and 16 the far end, are fishing very well. Carp to 3lb, crucians and tench are being caught in nets to 40lb. Pole and pellet or maggot is working best.
ANNIVERSARIES The Vets fished their silver fish match on Tuesday and it fished very well with 23lb of skimmers winning, but most anglers caught double figures with a few carp also caught. Pole with pellet, caster or red maggot over a bed of dark ground bait is the best tactic. Pegs 5, 6 and 14 – 19 are the best areas.
WILLOW Always consistent with roach and skimmers providing good sport on pole fished pellet or caster. Pegs 5 and 6 have been best for carp fishing next to the reed bed with fish to 4lb in nets to over 30lb on corn or pellet.

REPORT
GEARYS Carp are still featuring well in catches despite the drop in temperatures. The pegs on the back bank from 31 – 36 are the best with method feeder with pellet, dead red maggot and red boilies the top baits for fish to double figures. The skimmers are harder to catch but a small ground bait feeder with maggot, pinkie or worm has taken catches into double figures with the high bank the best area for them.
MOLANDS Fished well early in the week with catches to over 80lb but sport was curtailed with the cold easterly breezes at the weekend. A small pellet feeder with pellet and maggot on the hook is the best approach for carp but they are moving around the pool and localised in the difficult part.
WILLOW This pool has been great for bites with roach and skimmers providing bags up to 20lb on small expander pellet or caster.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
GRATUITIES Pegs 1 and 16 are the flyers at the moment with carp to 4lb, tench to 4lb and lots of crucians in the 6oz – 12oz range providing excellent sport. A small feeder across to the island on long pole and pellet are the best tactics at the moment.
LITTLE GEARYS Small F1’s and skimmers are providing the best action with pole and pellet working best for these. Fishery regular Bert Sutton of Birmingham had over 50 F1’s plus skimmers from peg 5 using a 4mm pellet at 8 metres. The most consistent area is the far side from pegs 5 – 14.
RIVER BLYTHE Chub is the main target with fish to 4lb coming to worm, meat or bread flake.

REPORT
GEARYS As with all of the pools most of the week, Gearys was covered in thick ice but cleared for the weekend. The recently stocked carp are showing on a few pegs with the high bank around pegs 6 – 12 producing fish to 6lb with pole fished pellet the best tactic. The skimmers were also having a go with Dave Duggan’s 60lb net in Saturday’s Open consisting of over 30lb of them.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
MOLANDS Molands is fishing hard at the moment with anglers struggling to get to double figures. Roach have provided the main action with fish to 14oz coming to waggler or long pole with caster and maggot the top baits. Restocking will take place this week with carp in the 1 – 6 lb range, so expect sport to pick up over the next few weeks.
WILLOW Caster or small expander pellet is working best for nets of skimmers, roach and crucians with every peg capable of plenty of fish with nets to over 20lb. The carp tend to be on the reedbeds on pegs 5 and 6 with corn or pellet fished tight for fish in the
1 – 4lb range.
GRATUITIES After breaking the ice to fish at the weekend, Gratuities provided the best sport during the Christmas match on Sunday with a near 40lb winning weight of small carp, crucians and tench to 3lb. Pole fished pellet or red maggot fished at 10 – 13 metres is the best tactic with pegs 1, 2 and 10 to 15 all producing good mixed nets.
LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool over the weekend with catches into double figures taken, mainly of the new F1 carp, but skimmers and roach also providing some sport. Pole fished pellet, maggot or caster is the best tactic.

PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
REPORT
GEARYS A large stocking of carp in the 1 – 5lb range should see an upturn in sport. Ice badly affected sport with Gearys completely covered for a few days. On the days when the pool was fishable, there were surprisingly a few carp being taken with a method feeder fished out to the middle stumps taking fish to 6lb on dead maggot.
LITTLE GEARYS Still the pick of the pools with the new F1’s stirring up the other fish to provide some sport. Bags to over 20lb on the pole and pellet or maggot have been taken on the far side, from pegs 8 – 14 the most consistent area.
WILLOW Even in the hardest frosts there are usually pegs free on Willow. Pegs 5 and 6 fishing tight to Norfolk reeds are good for carp in the 1 – 4lb range with tench and decent skimmers also holding there. Corn, pellet and maggot are the best baits.
GRATUITIES The slightly deeper water on pegs 1, 2 and 16 have been the best area with small carp, crucians and some decent roach coming to the waggler or long pole.

REPORT
MOLANDS The cold weather over the past few days has continued to make sport difficult on the larger waters at Packington, although the recently stocked F1 carp are beginning to show a little better. Pegs 2 – 4, 16 – 19 and 53 – 57 are the best areas with pole fished caster or small expander pellet providing the best chance of action.
GEARYS Not in the best of form with skimmers and tench providing the best of sport but anglers are struggling to catch double figures at the moment. The high bank is the best area with pole fished pellet or maggot the best tactic.
PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool at the moment giving decent sport particularly along the far bank from pegs 8 – 14 where nets to over 40lb have been reported by pleasure anglers during the week. These catches are mainly of small F1s
but include carp to 5lb and a few tench and crucians. Pole at 11 – 13 metres with small expanders or pellet is the best tactic but bread punch on the waggler is also taking some decent catches.
WILLOW Anglers fishing maggot or pinkies have been catching plenty of small skimmers to ½lb and roach to 10oz. A few carp to 3lb showing on the favoured reed bed, pegs 5 and 6 with corn or pellet fished up to the reeds.
CRESCENT/REEDY BAY & 1ST BAY These small pools have been providing decent sport with carp, roach and small tench the main targets. Float fished maggot, caster or pellet have been working best.
RIVER BLYTHE The river settled down after the recent rain and has been providing good sport, with chub to over 3lb, perch to 2lb, roach, dace and gudgeon. Bronze maggot or caster on the stick float is working well for mixed nets.

REPORT
MOLANDS The few anglers prepared to endure the cold weather found Molands to be in uncompromising form with the new F1s stocked recently, being the most willing fish to feed. Pellet or maggot fished close in at 4 – 6 metres on pegs 16 – 20 produced catches into double figures. Around the rest of the pool, long pole with maggot, caster or pellet is producing a few skimmers, roach and the occasional tench.
GEARYS The cold weather really disrupted sport on Gearys with anglers struggling to reach double figures. Skimmer bream, roach, brown goldfish and the odd carp are the target species with the high bank from pegs 6 – 12 providing the best chance of action, to either a small maggot/ground bait feeder or long pole with chopped worm or caster.
WILLOW Pegs 5 and 6 are producing carp to 5lb fished tight to the reed beds with pellet or corn. In the open water, skimmers and roach have been very obliging on maggot, caster or small expander pellet.

PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
LITTLE GEARYS The best pool at the moment with F1’s, carp and skimmers providing decent sport on most pegs. Pole fished pellet, caster or maggot is working best for the new fish in the 6oz – 12oz bracket. The bigger fish are coming to straight lead and pellet or method feeder fished across to the islands with nets to over 50lb reported by pleasure anglers.
GRATUITIES The top end of the pool on pegs 1 – 4 and 14 – 16 have been in very good form through the week. Pole fished pellet or maggot is producing pleasure nets to over 40lb consisting of carp in the ½lb – 1lb bracket, tench to 4lb and lots of small crucians around the ½lb mark. Feed plenty of small 1mm or 3mm carp pellets and fish a larger pellet over them for best results.
RIVER BLYTHE Some cracking chub to over 4lb being caught on bread or worm along with plenty of smaller samples falling to float fished bronze maggot or caster. Big perch have also been showing well with fish in the 1 – 2lb range being caught.

PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
REPORT
Over the past week the pick of the pools has been Little Gearys which has produced nets over 60lb this week. The recently stocked F1s and carp have settled in well and are encouraging the old stock to feed.Pole and pellet at 4-6 metres is the best tactic with most pegs good for double figure nets at least, but the hot spots have been pegs 11-17 & 25-28 on the straights. Gratuities has also been fishing well with carp, tench, crucians, roach & skimmers coming to pole fished pellet or caster. The corner pegs have been in the best form with 1,2,8,15 & 16 all going well. On Gearys skimmers to 2lb & tench to 3lb have been making up the better catches with the high bank on pegs 7-12 the top area. Chopped worm & caster or pellet have been the best baits.Molands has been hard this week with the new F1s holding around pegs16-19 and producing catches to 20lb on pole & pellet.Around the pool odd skimmers to 2lb and roach have been coming to the maggot or caster.
Willow has been good for mixed nets of roach, skimmers, crucians and the odd bonus tench or carp with maggot or caster the best baits.

PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
REPORT
MOLANDS The restocking programme scheduled for the winter started last week with the introduction of 2000 F1 carp and these should start to improve sport as they settle in. The skimmers are providing the best of the action this week with fish in the 12oz – 1 ½ lb mark coming to long pole and pellet with the pegs around Scare Crow Point or the back bank from 46 – 60 in the best form.
GEARYS The very changeable conditions made for some difficult sport on Gearys.Skimmers again were the saviours with bags to 20lb being caught on either long pole and pellet or ground bait feeder and maggot, caster or pellet. The odd carp and tench are showing but are difficult to pinpoint at the moment. Best pegs are 6,9,10,13,19,30,31 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS
Another pool restocked with F1s and carp this week with a more significant impact made on catches.Bags to over 50lb reported with carp and F1s to 3lb making up the bulk of catches but skimmers, crucians and some quality roach also showing this week. Pole fished caster or pellet is the best approach but feeder to the island is also picking up a few fish. Best pegs 4,9-13,17,19 and 27.
WILLOW Plenty of roach and skimmers coming to maggot or caster on the waggler or long pole. The carp and tench are holding around the reed beds on pegs 5 and 6 with corn or pellet fished tight against the reeds producing carp and tench up to 4lb.
GRATS The top end of the pool on pegs 1-3 and 12-16 have been in good form this week producing mixed nets of carp, crucians, roach and tench. Pleasure anglers have netted bags to over 30lb. Pole fished 3 or 4ml expander pellets have been the best tactic.

PACKINGTON SOMERS COARSE FISHERY
REPORT
MOLANDS After a week of snow, hard frost, rain and north easterly breezes it is no surprise that the fishing on Molands and all of the pools has been difficult. The weights in matches have been low with double figures needed to frame at the moment. Skimmers to 1½llb have been providing the best of the action coming to pole and caster, pellet or a small ground bait feeder with caster or worm. The best area has been along the back bank from pegs 52 – 58.
GEARYS Fishing hard with a light approach required as the water clears. Pole fished maggot, caster, pinkie or small expander has been the best tactic with skimmers, brown goldfish and even a few tench showing. The high bank from pegs 7 – 13 and the far side from 30 – 36 has been the best area.
LITTLE GEARYS A few F1’s to 3lb showing along with skimmers and roach. Either the waggler and bread punch or long pole and expander pellet have been accounting for the better catches. Pegs 14 – 21 have been the best area.
WILLOW The most consistent pool on the fishery giving plenty of small skimmers and roach coming to caster or maggot with a few bonus carp to 4lb and tench to 4lb. Best pegs are 1, 5, 6 and 12.
GRATS The pegs on the far side have been providing nets of small carp, crucians, roach and skimmers with pole fished pellet or maggot working best.
RESTOCKING
The fishery is to start restocking from this week with the first batch of F1’s going into Molands and Little Gearys. Further stockings of carp, bream and tench will be undertaken over the next few months.
