PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
REPORT
MOLANDS Fished quite hard for most this week with the colder weather making the fishing a little patchy. Match weights to 50lb were caught with the F1’s providing the bulk of the action coming to pole or waggler fished maggot down the middle. Bomb with bread is starting to catch a few carp as the water gets clearer with fish to double figures falling to this tactic this week. Best pegs 2, 8, 13, 25, 41, 44 – 46 and 56 – 60.
GEARYS Plenty of skimmers were showing on most areas with fish from 8oz to 2lb making up the better catches and bags to 30lb were caught this week on the caster or expander pellet fished over micros or ground bait. Carp are being caught with bomb and bread or pole fished corn or big expanders and some lumps were caught this week with the best weight in matches at 18lb.
LITTLE GEARYS The two straight banks from pegs 7 – 11 and 28 – 30 have been the best areas producing good nets of F1’s and a few carp. Maggot, caster or pellet fished on the waggler or long pole has been the best approach.
GRATUITIES The corner pegs have been the best this week with pegs 1, 8, 9 and 15 producing carp down the margins to corn or caster. Crucians are still coming on the long pole and pellet on the other areas but catches have dropped this week.
SIBLINGS A Very patchy this week, if you are on them you can have a good day with carp in the 1 – 4lb range and the odd bigger sample coming to cone or pellet fished right across to the island.
SIBLINGS B Fished well early in the week but fishing progressively harder as the week went on. Pole fished pellet or maggot has worked best.
