REPORT
MOLANDS Having started this week with all the pools frozen, it was good to see some mild weather return and as it warmed up a touch, all the pools including Molands improved considerably from previous weeks. Nets to 40lb+ were caught later in the week with pole and pellet or maggot working consistently with the waggler and pellet also catching a few. Fish are showing around the pool again but the 40’s from 45 – 48 and 56 – 60 are the best areas.
GEARYS A few carp were caught later in the week with bomb and boilies the best tactic. There are lots of fish showing on the stumps and this is where the best chance of carp are at the moment. Skimmer nets to double figures were caught on the high bank with feeder and maggot or pole with pinkie or maggot best.
LITTLE GEARYS After the worse match we can ever remember on Wednesday which was due to the ice melt, things improved at the weekend and the fishing, particularly along the back bank from pegs 5 – 15 was good. F1’s made up the better catches and nearly 60lb was needed to win the Christmas match with pole and pellet the main method at the moment.
GRATUITIES Grats has been excellent with the silver fish sport particularly good. Bream to 5lb, perch, roach, skimmers and crucians have all featured in nets to 30lb with pole fished maggot or pinkies best. Carp are being caught with a small pellet feeder to the island or pole and pellet best for fish to 3lb.
WILLOW As with the other pools the fishing has been better with nets to 30lb being caught. Pegs 2, 5 and 10 – 12 have been the most consistent. A small pellet feeder or banjo fished tight up is catching small carp and F1’s and the pole with punched bread or pellet is also catching a few fish.
ANNIVERSARIES The top end is best with pegs 1 – 6, 9, 10 and 21 – 23 all producing a few F1’s along with the odd bigger bream to 4lb. Pole fished maggot or expander fished over micros is the best tactic.
SIBLINGS A & B Siblings B is the more consistent of the pools with F1’s and carp showing to dobbed bread, maggots or soft pellet fished across to the far bank.
