REPORT
MOLANDS A little up and down this week with the weather turning cooler but on the good days the fishing has been excellent with catches well over 100lb caught. F1s are providing the bulk of the catches and fish to 7lb have featured along with plenty of decent sized carp to well into double figures. Natural baits are starting to work but with caster over maggot fished down the first shelf at around 6 metres the best tactic. Bomb and bread is also becoming the main method for carp. Top pegs have been 2, 12 – 25, 29, 43 – 48 and 56 – 60.
GEARYS Definitely a bit more difficult this week with the low water levels not helping. Match weights to around 50lb have been best but pleasure anglers have reported better catches. The carp are coming to bomb and bread/pellet or pellet waggler. The silver fish have helped make the better catches with skimmers in the 1 – 2lb range being caught on pole with maggot, corn or caster fished at 8 metres with high bank the best area for them.
LITTLE GEARYS Consistent but not spectacular with F1s showing all around the pool with nets to around 60lb best this week. Caster shallow or long pole with pellet have been the top tactics but punched bread on the waggler or straight lead have also started to work. Best pegs have been 1- 7, 19 – 22 and 25 – 29.
GRATUITIES A little better this week with some decent carp catches coming to pellet feeder or a small waggler up to the island. Decent nets of mixed silvers coming to pole with caster or soft pellet.
WILLOW Pole with corn, worm or pellet fished from the margins has produced the better catches with carp to new double figures and plenty of F1’s being caught.
SIBLINGS A & B Very mixed week with some good catches one day and difficult the next. ‘B’ is the main consistent pool with long pole with pellet accounting for plenty of F1s. On ‘A’, ide and skimmers are showing well to caster or maggot with a few carp as bonus fish.
