REPORT
MOLANDS The fishing has been a little patchy but there have been some excellent nets of fish caught on Molands this week. Match and pleasure weights in excess of 100lb have been taken with the F1’s providing the main action along with crucians, skimmers, carp and the odd tench. Pellet either banded or expander has been the top bait fished long at 10 – 14.5 metres or down the first shelf at five metres. Waggler with 8mm pellet is catching the better carp with fish to 13lb caught right up to the island. Top pegs have been 4, 10, 13, 15, 19, 26 – 29, 40 – 46 and 54 – 60.
GEARYS There were some big weights caught in the middle of the week but generally the fishing on Gearys has been hard. Weights to over 125lb were caught during the veterans’ match and these were made up mostly of big carp in the 8 – 12lb range caught on bomb and pellet or popped up boilies. Pole fished expander pellet is catching mixed bags of skimmers, small carp and F1’s from most areas. Top pegs are 7, 10, 13, 18, 20 – 23, 31, 36 and 41.
PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY
LITTLE GEARYS This pool has been in terrific form this week with a few 100lb catches and really good back up weights from most areas. Pole fished caster and worm or pellet has been the best approach and the bigger nets are being caught close in either down the first shelf or right into the margins. Pellet or method feeder fished up to the island has also been catching a few with banded pellet or dead reds on the hook. Best pegs are 1, 5, 7 – 12, 21 and 26 – 30.
GRATUITIES Pellet waggler has been the top tactic fished across to the middle island with 6mm or 8mm pellet catching plenty of carp in the 3 – 4lb range along with the odd bigger fish. Good mixed nets of crucians, skimmers, tench and carp are coming to pole/float fished caster, maggot or soft pellet. Top pegs have been 1- 4, 8, 9, 11 and 15.
WILLOW On the pegs that you can reach the island with a pole, pellet fished across has been catching lots of F1’s and small carp. Pellet feeder or waggler tight across on the other pegs is working well and fished shallow on the pole at 13 metres is also very productive at the moment.
SIBLINGS A Pleasure anglers are enjoying good sport, particularly later in the day, fishing down the edges with corn or meat. Carp to 10lb, F1’s, skimmers and ide have featured in catches.
SIBLINGS B Plenty of F1’s in the 8oz to 1lb range are being caught on pellet fished across to the far side. Carp are being caught on the bigger baits with meat or corn accounting for fish up to 10lb. The end of the Point from pegs 5 – 11 has been the most consistent area.
ANNIVERSARIES Fishing well for F1’s mainly but some big bream in the 3 – 5lb range are also showing. Pole fished maggot or pellet is the top tactic with decent catches being caught all round but pegs 4, 6, 15, 21 and 23 are the hot spots.
