FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 20/4/14
Last week 142 rods caught 496 fish for an average of 4.15.
It was a busier week on the Fishery and for most, the sport was very good. There have been lots of fish moving with big buzzers hatching and fish coming to small imitative patterns such as Diawl Bach, pearly Spiders, olive or black Buzzers, Bloodworm, GRHE, Damsels and a few falling to dries such as CDC Emergers or dry Olives.
The best fish of the week was a 6lb 2oz rainbow caught by Alex Kerr of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and this was the best of an 11 fish catch and they all came to Hothead Damsels fished on a floating line. Kevin Burgess of Birmingham caught six fish to 5lb 4oz from Cocks Close and these came to black Buzzers fished on a floating line.
On the members’ waters, Michael Hanson fished from a boat on the Hall Pool with his son Paul and they caught a total of 18 fish between them with the best at 5lb 8oz and they came to a mixture of white and green Lures or Buzzers. On the Great Pool, Tony Deakin of Nuneaton fished from a boat and caught seven fish to 5lb which again fell to small Buzzers fished on a floating line. Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield caught six fish to 5lb from the Park Meadow pool and these came to a black and white Lure.
The best areas on Cocks Close have been the high bank and around the middle willows but generally following the wind is the best approach, fishing into the wind.
