TROUT FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 16/3/14
Last week 127 rods caught 465 fish for an average of 3.66.
The decent weather has seen an increase in rod numbers and for most the fishing has been very good. Lots of fish being caught in the 3 – 5lb range along with the odd bigger fish.
The best fish of the week was a 10lb rainbow caught by Steven Featherstone of Solihull who was fishing on the Park Meadow pool and he took it on a small olive Damsel fished on a floating line. Derek Jones of Coventry caught a 7lb 8oz rainbow in his four fish bag, all caught on Damsel Nymph whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Steve Haden of Birmingham fished the bank on Cocks Close and caught three fish to 6lb, again these all fell to Damsel Nymphs.
The members’ waters Great Pool and Hall Pool are now back in action after a period where they were really coloured. Tom Dixon of Coleshill fished on the Great Pool from a boat and caught eight fish to 3lb on Buzzers fished on a floating line.
The top patterns are Damsel Nymph, black, olive or red Buzzers, Bloodworm, GRHE, Cats Whisker and black Tadpole.
The best areas have been the road bank and the high bank on Cocks Close, the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty on Great Pool and the far bank on Park Meadow.
