FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 4/5/14
Last week 126 rods caught 459 fish for an average of 3.64.
The Fishery has been in good form over the past week with all the pools seeing good rises particularly in the morning and late evening. Small imitative patterns are working best with black, olive or red Buzzers all accounting for plenty of fish. Damsels, GRHE, Diawl Bach, Bloodworm, Pearly Spiders and Dry Olives have also been working well.
The largest fish of the week was a 9lb rainbow which was caught by Richard Lindsey of Stretton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he caught this and six others on a small coral Tadpole. Mr G Smith of Water Orton used a black Buzzer on a floating line to tempt seven fish to 5lb 8oz whilst fishing from the bank on Cocks Close and took two and released a further five to 3lb using a Diawl Bach fished on a floating line.
On the members’ waters, Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield fished from a boat on the Park Meadow pool and caught seven fish to 5lb on small white Lures fished on an intermediate line. Jonathan Preston of Solihull fished on the Great Pool and caught five fish to 5lb on Buzzers fished on a floating line.
On Cocks Close, the boat anglers are catching well out from the middle willows down to the high bank. On the bank, the old boat jetty corner and high bank have been best. The Great Pool is fishing well from the island across to the far side and along the far bank. The Hall Pool is best up at the dam wall and around the boat jetty.
