FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 18/3/18

Last week 34 rods caught 70 fish for an average of 2.5 per rod.

A mid-week restocking livened the fishing up a bit and before the cold weather came in at the weekend there were fish moving on most parts of Cocks Close.

The regulars found the fish and there were some good catches on the bank of Cocks Close with Dave Bratby of Birmingham catching and returning 14 fish using small Buzzers on a floating line with his best just short of 4lb. Roger Wheat of Nuneaton caught eight fish to 3lb also from the bank of Cocks Close and these all came to a white Lure fished on an intermediate line. Rod Lacey of Nuneaton fished from a boat and caught and released 15 fish from Cocks Close using small Diawl Bach and black Buzzers.

The best areas have been the old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close and the milder weather saw fish moving all along the road bank on Friday but the cold weather put paid to any fly life at the weekend.

The best flies have been black or red Buzzers, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach, Cats Whisker and Damsel Nymph.

The Trout Fishery is open seven days a week from 8am until dusk.
