FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 21/5/17
Last week 56 rods caught 212 fish for an average of 3.78 fish per rod
A quiet week with the very changeable weather putting down the fish on some days and certainly slowing up the number of anglers. The rises have been superb with fish moving all over Cocks Close and Park Meadow and are coming to Olives, Buzzers and Alders. Small dries such as Hoppers, Klinkhammers, Sedges and black Gnats have all accounted for a few fish this week. On the brighter days when the fish are down, Diawl Bach, Buzzers and Damsels are the top flies.
The best fish this week was an 8lb rainbow caught by Allan Bowen of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on the Park Meadow pool and he caught it on a small black Buzzer which also accounted for another six fish. Also on Park Meadow, Graham Hewitt of Solihull fished catch and release from a boat catching eight fish to 3lb 12oz with some falling to Cats Whiskers and a few on Buzzers.
Paul Fleeman of Redditch fished catch and release from a boat on Cocks Close and caught 12 fish to 6lb on Klinkhammers and Buzzers. Dave Kimbrell and Derek Jones of Coventry shared a boat on Cocks Close catching fifteen fish between them to 5lb 12oz and they all came to small Olive Buzzers fished on a floating line.
The best areas have been the lodge corner and the road bank on Cocks Close and the shallower water on the far side of Park Meadow.
The Fishery is open from 8am until dusk.
