FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 18/5/14
Last week 152 rods caught 452 fish for an average of 2.89.
It was a busier week last week with the nice weather bringing out a few more extra rods. Conditions were tricky on some days with the bright sunshine making it a little harder but generally all the pools are still fishing well,. Lots of fish in the 3 – 5lb range coming out along with the odd bigger fish.
The best fish this week were two at 7lb, one caught by Ken Randle of Balsall Common and another caught by Nick Howarth of Nuneaton. Ken was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he used a dry Daddy Long Legs to tempt his fish and Nick was on a boat on the Hall Pool and his fell to a white Lure fished on a floating line.
Jason O’Neill of Coventry fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught seven fish to 5lb 6oz on an olive and black Lure. William Webster of Tamworth had five fish from the bank of Cocks Close with his best just over 5lb and these came to Buzzers fished on a floating line. On the Great Pool, Mr P French caught six fish to 5lb 8oz using a Cats Whisker Lure.
Top patterns have been Gold Head Damsel, black Buzzer, Cats Whisker, black Lure, Montana Nymph, Bloodworm, CDC Emerger and GRHE.
Best areas are the sand bank and around the middle willows on Cocks Close, the deeper water on Hall Pool, and the boat jetty side of Great Pool.
The Fishery is holding a ‘Fishing for Heroes’ event on Saturday 7th June. We are looking for anglers interested in fishing the event and all is required is to get a minimum of £50 sponsorship.
